I hope this is true. It wasn't on my radar while it was running and I'd love a chance to see it

Golden? Or the timing works perfectly for it to go into the Longacre between Prom and (rumored) Six.

I feel like I read/heard Rudin was behind this so I could see the Golden. But how will this fare on Broadway?

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Rudin is not mentioned as one of the producers on the notice, though.

The Golden's size makes sense.

So clearly, Teyonah Parris isn't transferring with the show, but is everyone else? I thought the NYTW cast was stellar across the board. I wonder if they have faith in the script to sell tickets or if they want to pad it with bigger names.

Well ok then!

I have said multiple times on this board that I didn’t think this transfer would actually happen. But I stand corrected! I still don’t think this show has a chance in hell at recouping, but I’m not an investor, so that’s not my problem to worry about. And maybe I’ll be wrong about that too!

In any case, this wasn’t my favorite Off-Broadway play this season by a longshot, but I’m glad that there are producers willing to take risks on the bold and bizarre. And I’m happy for Harris to get this opportunity for exposure.

Can’t wait for Broadway’s prudes and pearl-clutchers to get a load of this one.

the main girl isnt transferring because she has multiple film projects in production right now including starring in a remake of Candyman.

It’s playing the Golden Theatre
"

It looks like this article was taken down, since it just redirects to the Broadwayworld homepage now.  I wonder if there was some press embargo on it or if it's not actually playing the Golden after all.

I look forward to seeing this. I couldn't get a ticket to the previous run. This play was very celebrated so I saw Daddy by the same author which was terrible.

I wonder how much if at all this will change for the transfer -- especially in terms of staging and the set

Contrary to the majority opinion, I actually liked Daddy much more than I liked Slave Play. One of my favorite plays of the year, and probably top ten of the decade. I found it fascinating and brilliant from start to end, particularly its use of melodrama to explore identity and religion. I'm excited to see Slave Play again though, hoping I can get my mind to wrap around it a bit better after it through me a curveball in previews at NYTW. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, and it needs another look at for sure.

Trying not to get spoiled much, but how graphic is this show? Terrible idea to see it with my catholic parents?

Not sure how to feel about this one. I think it's stronger than DADDY was, but to me, they both felt like incredibly promising works from a playwright who will be an exciting talent once he gets past some of his more obvious efforts to shock. He does use the play's shock value to try to say something. I think he hasn't perfected the ability to get past the concept enough and as deeply into the themes and ideas as he obviously intends to. My fear is that if his first work is getting this much attention, there seems to be a chance he'll not be challenged enough to be the even better writer I believe he has the potential to become. But who knows? Maybe the play is more successful than I thought it was. For sure, there are going to be some raised eyebrows at the Golden!

Quite. Unless they are highly unorthodox, I'd say it's a terrible idea. NYTW had dedicated staff at every performance to talk through potential trauma.
