Any update on Isaac Powell's possible injury after last night?

Tonight at Moulin Rouge - Bad Theater Behavior
 Dec 16 2019, 01:58:08 AM

Saw Moulin Rouge tonight - loved it in all respects.  Although we had wanted to see Danny, his replacement was wonderful.

However, there were two audience members who exhibited the worst behavior I have seen in many years of seeing hundreds of broadway shows.  They talked and sang throughout the entire first act and when the very nice older couple in front of them politely asked them to be quiet, they got very rude and belligerent towards the couple and then start

Why do theaters sell twizzlers and other noisy snacks
 Dec 9 2019, 11:52:44 AM

Agreed!  I have no problem with drinks without ice and water in cups rather than noisy plastic bottles.  Also, quiet snacks are fine - especially unwrapped cough drops since coughing can be as annoying as snack noise.

Good response but with increased ticket prices, the theaters could be more thoughtful.  Do they really want to compete with airlines in terms of raising ticket prices and decreasing comfort.

Just came back from Mockingbird which continued our streak of having noisy snackers right behind us munching  -- opening twizzlers as the curtain rose and ate throughout the entire first act.  It is amazing how oblivious these snackers are.  This is equally true for those who rattle their ice while sipping their theater purchased drinks.  Some theaters do not allow ice in drinks brought back to seats.    I wish more theaters would be equally thoughtful about

Sherie Rene Scott/Norbert Leo Butz twohander

Saw this in May and loved it.  A very warm story with many great numbers.  They are hoping it will have a life after Feinstein's.

Jeremy Pope's final performance in AIN'T TOO PROUD: Sunday 7/7/19

I agree.  He was fantastic in ATP and also in Choir Boy.  I can't wait to see his next project.

The Cher Show to close August 18th

I'm not surprised either.  SJB was great.  The costumes were aldo great and the cast did the best the could with a mediocre book.

Ryan Murphy To Develop Film Adaptation Of THE PROM For Netflix

If straight actors can't play gay roles, wouldn't that mean that gay actors shouldn't play straight roles.  That would be a net loss for the gay community.

Is it rude to give a standing ovation when no one else is?

I completely agree with Mike B

I agree with Pose2.  Standing ovations are a good thing and the performers appreciate them.

Standing ovations are like a bell that cannot be unrung.  I don't see them stopping.  Also, I think they are nice for the performers who seem to enjoy them.

I agree with sm33 -- Oklahoma! or What The Constitution Means To Me
 Jun 24 2019, 12:27:18 PM

I have seen both Constitution and Oklahoma! and would recommend the unique Oklahoma! experience.  It certainly is not a typical musical.

It is a wonderful show!

Slave Play coming to Broadway in September!
 Jun 21 2019, 10:10:49 PM

I wonder how much if at all this will change for the transfer -- especially in terms of staging and the set

UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN to Play Off-Broadway starring Malone

I couldn't disagree more.  Unsinkable was fine but not in the same class as the others that you disparage.

Derren Brown - Coming to Broadway???
 Jun 13 2019, 03:35:46 PM

I saw this at Atlantic and loved it.  This was more than an ordinary magic show.  Very intelligent and entertaining.  I highly recommend it.  That being said, it is not something I would be likely to see a second time.  So, I would not be surprised if its broadway success will likely depend largely on first timers.

MITB Tony's Reactions

I just don't see what is at all shady about this.  Joe Iconis seemed fine with it.
