MCNEAL Previews

I was surprised by this one. In the early scenes, I worried that we were going to be heading into some very familiar territory, but the play (to its benefit) ended up being something more slippery and engaged than the anti-AI diatribe I thought it would become.

I’ll agree that it’s a show that hits the head a lot more than the heart. That does seem intentional, at least to me. Very glad I caught it.

ShowScore format change
 Sep 12 2024, 10:53:03 PM

I’m someone who always has a hard time with change, so I’m wondering how others feel about ShowScore shifting to a 5-star metric instead of a 0-100 score.

They’ve also added a lot of emojis to their buzzwords, and they no longer let you sort reviews by who has been most active on the site. Essentially, they’ve made it feel more juvenile and less interesting. On top of their decisions not to prioritize critic reviews, which they made a couple years

Brendan Fraser and Brian J. Smith to star in Samuel D. Hunter’s GRANGEVILLE at Signature Theatre

Thrilling casting. I love Hunter’s work and am very ready for this one.

TABLE 17

Can anyone speak to the seating? Particularly the table seats—how close together they are, how the sightlines are? Is it best to see this from the traditional seating?

THE NOTEBOOK to Close on Broadway on December 15, 2024

I was t the biggest fan of this show, but there were some truly great performances. Here’s hoping lots of the cast is booked for new work sooner than later.

Is it time for an American Idiot revival?
 Aug 28 2024, 09:23:19 PM

I hope I’ll have a chance to the the CTG/Deaf West production. I loved it on Broadway. While I will generally root for a musical with an original score to garner more awards attention, I thought that season had two visionary “jukebox” shows (this and Fela), and that it was a damn shame that Memphis won the Tony. I really loathed that show.

Disney's Snow White 2025
 Aug 14 2024, 06:16:25 PM

There isn’t a single one of these remakes to date that I would choose to watch over the original animated version. This doesn’t look any better or worse than the rest of them to me, so it seems the intense animosity towards Zegler in particular is driving most of the negative reaction here. That said…her wig in the trailer is a crime.

New Branden Jacobs-Jenkins play PURPOSE Directed by Phylicia Rashad, to land on Broadway in 2025

KevinKlawitter said: "It just occurred to me that depending on the timeline ofPurple Rainafter it opens in Minneapolis in the spring,Branden Jacobs-Jenkins could have two different shows in the same Broadway season."

I love the idea, but the Minneapolis production runs until May 11th making a Broadway transfer this season almost impossible. That said, seeing him have three Broadway production in three consecutive seasons...THAT could be poss

The Wiz is such an interesting case. It's doing so well that I wonder if they might try to bring it back through in the next couple years since it's already the touring production.

I have NO idea if that's possible, but it tickles my brain.

& JULIET Replacement Casting
 Jul 31 2024, 05:40:56 PM

Drew Gehling feels like he’ll be a great Shakespeare. For all the talk of gimmicky casting to come (which I fully believe could all still be in the works), the show has done a lovely job casting great broadway talents in the Shakespeare, Nurse, and Lance parts.

I suspect our new Romeo, Frankie, and May will all be young, fresh talent. And I’ll almost definitely be seeing the show again at least another time (to catch folks before they’re gone) or two

Having also adored this production of Next to Normal, I’m so glad you paid extra attention to Eleanor Worthington Cox who is the giving the richest and most wonderful performance I’ve seen in the role. It’s a dynamite cast, and I think she’s really special in it.

Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren to star in THE LAST FIVE YEARS Broadway Revival

Jordan Catalano said: "$100 for last row of the balcony and the front half of the orchestra is $350 - $450. Insane."

I was surprised by the pricing on this. Figured there'd be a solid deal to get somewhere in the auditorium. I plan on seeing this, but I'm going to hold off for hopefully some cheaper options.

Do you know when Streetcar was rumored for the Hudson? This is a 14 week run, per the email, so…there wouldn’t be time to get Streetcar in this season, but it could still be coming next summer maybe?

It does. An email announcing a presale tomorrow doesn’t name the Hudson, but it lists the address of that theater.

Broadway Real Estate 2024-25

Boop to the Broadhurst in Spring takes the list on page 1 of this thread to 7 theaters definitely available at least by Spring.

I’m rooting for at least one out-of-left-field show that no one is talking about to surprise us and come in.

This is genuinely exciting casting. Looking forward to finding out who will round out the cast!

According to an email yesterday, presale was supposed to start at 10 today, but the code hasn't come through for me yet.

I feel more or less the same way, but I am a liiiiiittle curious how it plays if you go in knowing the full story. I probably won't go back, but I can understand why some would. For the record, I really, really enjoyed it

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 7/14/24

Broadway Flash said: "Another great week for The Great Gatsby. &Juliet needs help"

Is this accurate? They played to similar capacities, and & Juliet had the higher average ticket cost. And it's recouped. Based on costs to run, I'd think Juliet's doing better than Gatsby (not that the latter is in bad shape).
