McNeal LincTix Exchange
 Sep 4 2024, 09:07:27 AM

McNeal starts previews tomorrow at the Vivian Beaumont. This is meant to be a thread dedicated to those who were able to purchase LincTix back in the spring but are looking to exchange dates with another LincTix holder.

Because the show is selling so well and because LincTix are sold out, it’s impossible to exchange via box office unless someone cancels an order, which nobody has done yet.

Box office will allow, on a case-by-case basis, current L

Tech glitch from Broadwayworld - just PMed you 😊

Yes, I just asked at box office today. Projecting 90 minutes, no intermission.

Speaking of, I went to box office because I was hoping to exchange my LincTix for a different date. It's not possible because LincTix are completely sold out and nobody has cancelled an order since tix went on sale. If

Jonathan Groffs chances at a Tony
 Nov 9 2023, 10:10:17 AM

I agree, excellent odds for him to win. I think it'll be a race between d'Arcy James and Groff and it's a toss up. Both beloved by the industry giving career-best performances and a win for either would be legacy wins.

I'm going to throw out a wildcard - The Ambassador? The death nail is bound to hit Chicago eventually

DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES Off-Broadway Reviews
 Jul 26 2023, 02:23:19 PM

ColorTheHours048 said: "I wouldn’t put Days of Wine and Roses in the same league as Floyd Collins or Piazza. I can appreciate Adam Guettel’s score-writing and think this score sounded ugly and bland. Dense, yes, but kind of uninteresting. It’s more akin to Myths and Hymns than his actual theatrical works, at least to my ears, and it’s not my personal taste."

I actually disagree quite a bit. One of the things I appreciate so much about Guet

I was automatically put in it from the main webpage about 25 minutes ago.

Any Builder 3's able to share how availability is looking after the initial grab?

2023 Pulitzer Prize for Drama Predictions
 Mar 30 2023, 10:23:54 AM

^Apologies for the double post, somehow was logged into a different email that I’ve never used before lol

Based on what I saw last year in NYC and what’s eligible (presumably), I would bet that the three finalists will be:

English

Epiphany

A Case for the Existence of God

And I think the board will pick English as the winner, particularly given their inclination towards

OHIO STATE MURDERS Previews
 Nov 22 2022, 11:52:51 PM

Saw tonight's preview. TDF tix - Row H center orchestra.

I hate to say it, but... this is rough. 75 minutes felt like 2 hours. It's a huge misfire for me if Audra McDonald is working her ass off onstage and I'm left thinking, "when will this possibly end?"

Leon is a total mismatch for the material. He has no idea what to do with it. ROUGH direction with really weird choices throughout the entire performance. The scarfs - WTF!

I am particularly not a

Broadway Briefing Newsletter - Stopped?
 Apr 25 2022, 11:20:55 AM

I've been a big fan of the Broadway Briefing daily newsletter for the past five years. It's been my go-to source for industry updates and it's always the first thing I read in the morning. But starting on April 11th, for the first time ever I am no longer seeing them in my inbox every morning. I've only gotten one newsletter since and I'm starting to get concerned. Is something wrong with my email/am I just not getting them, or are others also no longer getting them? Is so

PASS OVER Reviews
 Aug 23 2021, 10:48:11 AM

Has anyone taken note of Jesse Green's appropriation of the play's scripted vernacular in his review as inappropriate or not? Seems entirely unnecessary to me and would've expected this to spark a bit of controversy. Quoting the review here:

"When they try to make a list of everyone they know who has “been kilt” by the police, it takes a very long time to name them while also distinguishing their particulars. Among many others there are Ed with

BLINDNESS Will Begin Performances Off-Broadway in April
 Jun 10 2021, 02:09:54 PM

I saw this a few weeks ago and enjoyed it! Got discount tickets through TodayTix for a Sunday afternoon performance. Pretty much a full house when I went!

I agree that this would've been more effective with multiple voice actors rather than a single narrator perspective. I don't know the source, but I assume the book was from the same perspective? But the design of this show was very cool, especially sound and lighting.

Not the best thing I've ever seen, but wo

Springsteen On Broadway returns June 26
 Jun 10 2021, 12:35:57 PM

Just got through the cue 5 min ago and snagged balcony tix for late August. No $100 tix left. Goes from $75, $100, $200, $300, etc. to $850. Good luck!

In the Heights on HBO Max?
 Nov 23 2020, 10:42:13 PM

Wonder Woman being released on HBO Max is a massive indication as to how studios will seek distribution going forward. This is the first time a studio has essentially succumbed to streaming, forfeiting potential box office revenue for consumer needs. It seems to be a milestone in how movies will be distributed going forward, and I anticipate all major studios following suit in some fashion. So yes, I think it's very likely that In The Heights will be released for streaming, likely simulta

Encores Will Present INTO THE WOODS
 Nov 23 2020, 10:31:23 PM

Into The Woods is the perfect choice for Encores, specifically for the fact that they are redefining themselves and their mission under DeBessonet's artistic direction. They need to do away with only doing forgotten early periods because 1) They don't make money 2) They've essentially run out of viable shows. Something like Into The Woods is the perfect transition into a new vision for the company, celebrating "iconic" American musicals.

The Maria Bb4 Challenge from "West Side Story"
 Nov 20 2020, 11:12:58 AM

I go either way with how people sing Maria. I understand and agree entirely with Bernstein choosing to have the melody shoot up to the Bb4 to represent Tony's astronomical excitement/love for Maria, it's very cathartic. But I think so long as the singer is hitting the peak of their tessitura, it accomplishes the same sensation. Therefore, I don't mind Larry Kert doing a lower option because his G (I think?) feels the same as the Bb4 due to his baritone range.
