I hope they single her out for a great performance but blast the show itself for being the mess that I t is. I doubt that will happen though, which will be a real shame. These types of shows aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and the upcoming productions need to know the critics will crucify them if they don’t actually deliver a quality product along with the songs everyone is going in to hear.

Hollywood Reporter is positive, but points out story telling issues in Act 2, and weird staging... says that Warren’s performance makes up for all the flaws in the end.

NY Times positive on Warren, and that's it.

He really only mentions Warren twice, which is surprising.

“ Adrienne Warren rocks the rafters and dissolves your doubts about anyone daring to step into the diva’s high heels.”

“ It rushes so hard that Warren, who appears in almost every scene, has to swap emotions even faster than costumes. She sometimes seems more rattled than ravaged.”

The latter isn’t exactly a compliment.

I, personally, thought Ain't Too Proud earlier this year was a FAR weaker show with a FAR weaker book than TINA. Yet that somehow got a Critic's Pick and praise for the (at best) subpar book?

Maybe this becomes the next jukebox musical hit? There's really only been Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia & Beautiful. As long as there's a strong actress to play Tina, I think this will be a hot ticket for several years.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Vulture is unimpressed with the book, but otherwise positive.

I guess Lloyd knows what she's doing. I loved the ad campaign, and I'm excited to see it.

Saw the show in London and loved. Truly the best musical biopic since Jersey Boys.

Also saw it in London- and loved it. One of the best jukebox musicals- aside from Beautiful- ever, IMO. And I loved the book- it was Tina's life story- period. I don't get the quibbling over the book- it was straight out a biography- no more and no less. And Warren captures Tina in an amazing performance- and let us not forget the choreography with those Ikettes dancing up a storm-and dressed to the nines in 1960's disco duds- great show, great performances- I highly recommend- for what that is worth- lol.

I totally forgot that Dawnn Lewis is in this. I love her and now will definitely try to get in to see it.  Already wanted to see Warren.

I think that IS the problem for many people? It's just... and then this happened, and then this happened...

This just seems like The Cher Show to me? It's not great, but you need to see the lead person who plays the famous person.

I'm glad the show is getting pretty good reviews. I loved it. I can't wait to see it again, hopefully after the holidays.

I loved The Cher Show (other than thinking it ran long and could have used some edits) and I love Warren so I'm down. I missed it when I was in London because it was entirely sold out.

Also, the Vulture review seems to make the point that it's NOT just a straight out biography. Unless you think plot devices like a child-self and ghosts happen in everyone's real life.

Somewhat related to the topic but can someone tell me why BWW photographers take THE closest possible photos of cast members/red carpet attendees? Drives me nuts.

I had a great time when I saw this last year in the west end. Took my ma who is a huge Tina fan! Adrienne Warren is just superb. I agree with some people about the book being weak - parts of the script certainly felt a bit clunky to me, but for me the energy and the songs outweighed any quibbles about that.

Unless I’m missing something, as long as I buy a ticket for a Tuesday through Saturday evening performance or a Sunday matinee during January 3 - 10, I should have good chance of seeing Warren. I had hoped to see an extra show by seeing Tina on Sunday evening, but I really want to see Warren.
