A couple months ago I got orchestra N 14&16 on a Friday night through TDF. Great seats.

I'm going next Wednesday night. Got a center front row balcony seat for less than $100 with the discount mailer code (NORMA1). I am not typically a fan of Jamie Lloyd's work, but I am still very excited because I do love Sunset Boulevard as a show itself, and I think Nicole will be great.

Interesting about the potential Hairspray revival and return of the O'Brien helmed touring production of The Sound of Music. I saw the recent Hairspray non-eq tour and was surprised to find how stale and dated the whole thing felt. As for The Sound of Music... I'd rather see a brand new production with a fresh creative team as opposed to the relaunch of a prior tour.

The Hills of California for yesterday afternoon was front orchestra center aisle - great seat!

THE HILLS OF CALIFORNIA Previews
 Sep 21 2024, 04:46:59 PM

Eh. I caught The Hills of California this afternoon and I didn't find much to like. Sure, there are some great performances, but The Ferryman this is not. Unlike Jez Butterworth's last Broadway outing, this one is a long and slow burn with absolutely zero payoff at the end. I kept waiting for that "aha" moment where everything comes together, but it never really arrived despite the play's almost 3 hour run time.

The whole affair was pretty &qu

I did a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago and got front row mezz center - the best seat in any theatre for any show IIMO). Loved the play too. Enjoy!

Why Did You Join BWW?
 Sep 19 2024, 05:01:47 PM

I first joined when I was a in high school and lived across the country. As a lifelong Broadway lover, I lived vicariously through this message board while seeing as much local theatre and tours as possible in my hometown. After graduating college, I moved to NYC and started seeing things for myself and sharing my thoughts and opinions. I was displaced for three years due to the pandemic and living out of state again, but I moved back to NYC last year. I have always loved this site and messag

Denzel Washington to return to Broadway in OTHELLO?
 Sep 12 2024, 05:30:35 PM

Easily managed to grab a rear mezzanine seat for previews earlier this afternoon. Price wasn't as high I anticipated, either! I'm typically not a fan of Kenny Leon's direction, but I love Shakespeare, and seeing Denzel and Jake share the stage is what I'm primarily there for.

SUNSET BLVD to transfer to Broadway

The St. James can sometimes have the worst sight lines depending on the show. Neither the orchestra or mezzanine are well-raked, and the balcony is just far. The side orchestra seats can be REALLY bad partial views (I saw maybe 30% of the stage when I saw New York, New York). Also, If there's ever an apron covering where the orchestra pit is (Into the Woods and Illinoise, for example), any staging on it can be completely obstructed in the rear mezzanine just by having an average

Solid lineup! While I liked Oh, Mary a lot, I do not think it is worth $353.

Funny Girl Tour cast changes.
 Sep 7 2024, 06:16:52 AM

Funny Girl is a show that lives or dies by its leading lady. The show itself does not work if you don't have someone with a particular energy and star power - Streisand, Michele, Benko, and McCrimmon all had both.

I have not been Shankman in the role of Fanny yet. However, I DID see her as Elphaba years ago... I was not impressed at all. She may have grown as a performer since then, but based on what I saw of her in Wicked, I can't imagine her being more than a merely

Wow. I caught this on a total whim today through TDF (long holiday weekend stuck in the city with no other plans, I'd seen everything else playing, and needed something to do), and I'm so glad I did.

I thought this was great - jarring, tight, thrilling, intense, and well acted. I went into this one blind as a bat and had low expectations, but left mesmerized. I'm a sucker for any kind of psychological thriller, though, even if it's flawed and cliched...

THE NOTEBOOK to Close on Broadway on December 15, 2024

I actually really enjoyed this. Surprised they're closing mid-December instead of waiting a couple extra weeks for those holiday grosses, though. No doubt this will do well on the road.

While I have not enjoyed Jamie Lloyd's previous work (Betrayal and A Doll's House), and am not 100% sold on his approach to Sunset Boulevard, I AM definitely excited to hear this score again. I also can't wait to see Nicole Scherzinger.

ONCE UPON A MATTRESS Previews
 Aug 11 2024, 07:26:01 AM

I saw this last night after loving it at Encores! earlier this year. Somehow, this has become even more delightful in its move to Broadway! The performances, which were already great at Encores!, have become even stronger and funnier. Daniel Breaker, Anna Gasteyer, Will Chase, and Brooks Ashmanksas are all wonderful replacements. Sutton's comedic chops and timing are even better than they were. She really makes Winnifred her own. Michael Urie remains the true MVP of this production, thoug
