See, even if I really hated a show (and there have been plenty) I would never tell anyone to stay away. I'd say it sucked in my opinon, tell 'em why and let them take the chance. ya never know, what I really hated about something they might like.
Mostly, what a narcissist I am. Thinking, golly, everyone will be so FASCINATED with all my tastes and ideas here! A board like this is not a place to look for validation. Also, real quick, I found out that to post here is to jump on a speeding train. People who've been around a while speak to one another in shorthand (so don't feel left out if you cut in on a dialogue), 'cause they know each other's tastes, trust the forum to be a safe place to vent, pro or con. Scared me at first, how strong and cryptic all the feelings voiced were ... but now I know you can learn stuff just following threads, not feeling (egotistically) like you have to comment on everything, just to see your name and thoughts. I came here to sound off; now I often wait, reading, nailing my POV before I gush.
If you live in the NY area, this is a helluva place to pick up the temperature of the moment. News and opinions are fresh and up to the damned second. Mostly, this place is about people ape--sh**t about the theater. That fact alone makes the vibes among the most positive on the web. What's not to like?
I also learned my posts are too long.

LOL!! You're right about knowing the temperature by being here. That's why I got involved in the first place, I wanted to talk with people who were as passionate about theatre and theatre people as I was. And you're right, it is DEFINITELY a ride when you get involved here...very much like the world of theatre itself. Takes a bit to get involved, but I think it's worth it. Most of the time anyway..LOL
I think something with the built in AOL browser isn't always compatible with the way ATC is best viewed. Sometimes I can't get ATC to open on AOL but I can get it to open on Internet Explorer.

OT: Thanks,CJR. I had a far more paranoid reaction, involving a lotta nasty 'tude against Time-Warner or something. But these are paranoid times.
I have to say, I get it. Sometimes I can't open the ATC page, and I get those sort of virus-y looking hieroglyphics; have to go back and reload. Makes sense. Thanks.

Auggie, consider yourself lucky that the "other board" won't sign you up. I've said it a million times, THAT board is the bitter/outofwork/loser/bitter/wannabe/neverwhere's haven. At least, the majority here are haven't gottenachanceyet, OR, whereneverinterestedinperformingtheatersnobs.
My only beef with ATC is the set up. I can't follow the posts over there. I think I posted twice and couldn't find either one when I went back. It's not sight friendly. I LOVE the modern view we have here.
Yeah, I have to say that the scrolling setup is my only beef with ATC. I can go away, be involved in the middle of a great thread and when I get back, it's gone. It's either scrolled off the boards or it's been deleted by the admin because nobody had responded to it in a day

Hail and Welcome! Horsey has returned in another thread , to, suprise suprise, ridicule someone! Ahh, at least all is well. Feathers can be ruffled, but they cannot be broken! So say I, Sychop...um, I mean Sheekala!

OK, I admit to being a member there, but I do find ATC very cliquey and snooty. For all the drama and b*tching we do here, this is a far friendlier group.
