Stay on board and deal with reality!! Nothing is going to be perfect. I love this board, and feel that I have my best debates here. If you look back, I am an every-so-often poster, but either way, every time I say something, I cant wait to hear what other opinions people have. I learn a lot here, and hope you change your mind. :)
I just read this entire thread and have to respond. Horsey, I believe I was the first to accuse you of being a “Tabooist”. Your first post on this board was a wild rave about a show whose curtain on the first preview rang down only minutes from the time you registered and posted. You denied any ties and I apologized for offending you. Let it go, for goodness sake.
People use these boards all the time for their own agenda, so it was not that far fetched that someone might try to promote a show that is not getting very good buzz.
When you kept it up, you became an easy target for some. That is just the way things are, sometimes. If you had just let it drop with a “I am NOT a TABOOIST! Now who is your favorite Mrs. Meers?” thread, no one would have kept “attacking” you and the matter would have been forgotten.
I am sorry you feel you were not treated fairly , but we are a protective family here and look out for each other, even though at times we become overly excited and yes, even personal. But the people who get and give personal attacks here do it with a firm grasp of frivolity. It is a fun board, and the teasing is all done in fun, and those who cannot take the heat, like you, soon find themselves out of the kitchen.
Either lighten up, or saddle up… and ride off into the sunset.
By the way, no one can compare to Beatrice Lillie as Mrs. Meers.
Oh, and for the young’uns. Mr. Ed was a talking horse on television.

attempt to imagine this in Rue McClanahan's voice on GOLDEN GIRLS (it's pretty close to my dear departed Great Aunt Ruby) who would say when i was a little self-pitying or self-rationalizing, which we ALL have been guilty of at one point or 'tother on this board:
"well, my dear, you will simply have to rise above, just rise above!"

Does anyone remember Roger Ramjet? (...he's our man, hero of our nation, for his adventures just be sure and stay tune to this station...when Ramjet takes a proton pill, the crooks begin to worry, they can't escape the awful fate of Proton's mighty fury...)

All I'm gonna say is (and Ballader, my BFAM, back me up on this one):
Not gettin' hassled. Not gettin' hussled.

"I'm so looking forward to a time when all the Reagan Democrats are dead."
Robbie you are on crack. For some reason, I didn't like that show....oh wait, I know exactly why....they made all the Black characters either.....a.)ignorant, b.)sassy c.)overly sensitive to the Black issues. It started to get on my nerves.
Cheers, The Balladeer
P.S. By the way, what does (BFAM) stand for? LOL
"Someone tell the story...Someone sing the song...."
I wasn't trying to be insulting. I just genuinely felt that way. Especially Esther Rolle's "Florida" boy was she the poster child for ignorant Black woman on welfare. Some of the things they had her say....I cringe....but maybe I'm just exaggerating.

I used to love Hogan's Hero's when I was a kid but I don't find it as funny now. I still love Gilligan's Island though. I think the last MASH episode is available on video/dvd
Oh, Auntie Sueleen, were my mother not an OB/GYN and had I not been receiving "the talk" since age 2, I would definitely have gone to you to learn about the birds and the bees.
Do you think a conciliatory (or would consolatory be a more appropriate word) fruit basket filled with apples delivered to the Plymouth Theatre be enough to lure Horsey back?
