I know James Monroe Iglehart really wants to play the Genie again.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
I do know that the show HAS been cast. They have just not announced it yet. I heard through the grapevine/some where on social media that Andrew Cao (Anything Goes, Nice Work If You Can Get It) was cast, but I don't know what role. But casting and call backs have been done. Just not officially announced yet.
wonder which lucky actress they will pick to be Jasmine ? will they go with an unknown like Ashley Brown in Mary Poppins or someone like Seirra Boggess who did Little Mermaid ??
I know for a fact they've talked to Karen Olivo, now I don't know if anything ever came of it but I do know her and the Aladdin team have been in touch.
I'm covering Aladdin for BroadwayWorld Toronto for their out of town tryout. As of right now no casting has been confirmed by the producers.
As soon as news about the production is available, I'll post a link to it here. I don't think it'll be anytime soon. Based off of my experience, we don't usually get a confirmation/press release until all contracts are signed and they go into rehearsal.
Even though she doesn't have the "skin color" or the "nationality", but Laura Osnes played Jasmine regionally alongside her husband. They both were understudies. She defiantly has the voice, and I think she would be freakin' fantastic IMO. They could "spray tan" or "paint" her every night like they do with Elphaba, but eh...that's probably too much and probably wouldn't look good on stage (who knows? Have they ever tried this with a actor?) I have a good feeling that Adam Jacobs will be reprising the role on Broadway, since he already has a relationship with Disney. Robin de Jesus could also be a considered choice, he played Aladdin too, and he already has experience on the Broadway stage..

Is the skin color makeup comment trolling, or not? Of course they've tried it, it's an enormous and ugly part of our history. And there is really no excuse for not just finding someone who fits the race of the role as written, because God knows there's enough talented people of any.
