I have seen a picture of Laura and her husband, Nate, in their Aladdin costumes, and yes, she looked very cute! Now really, can you picture her NOT cute? Ha. But I agree, she would be great in the role, but I'm biased and think she'd be great in anything. Can't wait for her to win that Tony someday!!!!
Has anyone ever thought that maybe Scott was just referring that Aladdin is coming to Broadway and he starred in a tryout production of it? If you see below, it says Liana Hunt (Mamma Mia!,Newsies) will be Jasmine and Kellen Stancil (The Lion King) will be Aladdin in the Broadway production. I'm not sure about this but it makes sense because they have worked/working with Disney shows on Broadway.
It seems as if Andrew Keenan-Bolger will not be reprising the role of Omar. He has been cast in the limited Off-Broadway engagement of Family Furniture this November.
Can someone 'in the know' please save me the heart attack and PM me whether Freeman is involved? I don't want to break anything tomorrow. Might as well get it all over with tonight, LOL.
"Disney Theatrical Productions announced a cast of 34 actors on Monday for its next Broadway musical, “Aladdin,” led by the theater actor Adam Jacobs (Marius in the 2006 Broadway revival of “Les Misérables”) in the title role.
Based on the 1992 musical film by Disney, “Aladdin” will also star James Monroe Iglehart (“Memphis”) as the Genie, Courtney Reed (“In the Heights”) as Jasmine, and Tony Award nominee Jonathan Freeman (“She Loves Me”) as the villainous Jafar. Mr. Freeman was the voice of Jafar in the original Disney movie, which starred Robin Williams as the voice of the Genie."
I'm pleased to see Courtney Reed staying with the cast. I saw her in ITH as Nina and really enjoyed her voice. Glad that James Monroe Iglehort did get the role of th Genie. I loved what I sawf him.
