Haha, yeah, at one point these girls started asking for Sebastian's autograph, and he was like but I wasn't in the show! I think they might have been from his hometown or something, that's what I thought I heard them say...his initial reaction was really funny though.

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

lol... I just went to the Pirate Queen section on this site and it says the show is still in previews... they really need to work on updating their information. Unbelieveable.

Stephanie didn't come out?

"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer

No, Stephanie never did come out. I can understand, it was a very emotional day and the crowd outside was crazy, I'm sure she must have been physically and emotionally exhausted. As others have said, everyone else came out and was incredibly kind and generous about taking pictures and signing autographs, depsite the fact that most of them had their hands full.

It was a great show, I'm glad I was able to go to the opening closing performance of it, and I will miss it.

I walked by the Hilton yesterday as they were loading everything out. It was pretty depressing. There were huge trucks outside and they had the huge doors open that let you see onto the empty stage. Very sad.

"The way some people post about Steph on this board you would think they were related to her!"

:rolling: That? Was funny. re: Pirate Queen final performance: Reviews, Pictures, etc...

The final performance was wonderful. The cast really threw everything into the show both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon; as gifted and enthusiastic as they were when I'd seen the show before, they really "left it all on the field" both times (this also according to people who have seen it more often than I). There were a lot of emotions, but, as someone else has already said of Steph's not coming out the stage door, that was not due to worry about their careers or even, I think, primarily about even missing the show itself (though they really will). It's about the fact that these people who have become like family won't be seeing each other all the time anymore. We had a long conversation with Nick Adams on Saturday night about this. They'll all go on and do other things--and some of this ensemble is destined for *great* things--but most of them won't perform together again. It's the way of Broadway, I know, but it's still sad.

In some ways, I felt, this final performance was for the cast every bit as it was for the audience. At one point (at the end of the wedding scene, when the cast was stretched across the edge of the stage after finishing the dance), the techs brought the house lights up so that the actors could see us applauding and cheering.

Linda Balgord's black velvet gown got its own applause--a nod to Martin Paklidinez, who probably should have gotten a Tony nomination for his costumes. And the applause was audience-wide; it was not limited to specific fans--and it was also not intrusive on the scenes.

Mrs. B (and, yes, it is she), I'd have been proud to sit with you and cheer your girl on, had you been able to make the performance. As it was, I'm grateful I was there.

Popular, thank you for starting this thread! For those of us who enjoyed this cast and the show, reading the reviews of those who were there for the last show is a joy. I join all of those who say they will miss this show terribly. This is the most talented cast i have ever seen and i know they will all go on to do wonderful things.

Mrs. Block, I commend you for standing up to the ignorance on this board and I agree with you! I am proud to say I did cheer your daughter on as loudly as i could Friday and Saturday. She is truly an amazing talent and such a wonderful person. But, you know that already :)

I saw the final performance on Sunday. It was the second time I saw the show. I also saw it in April. A friend of mine worked on the show and once it posted closing I jumped at the chance to go to the closing performance. I am a huge fan of Ms. Block and was fortunate enough to go backstage to meet her and a few other cast members in April. Ok, done bragging. For the time being.

After I spoke with my friend from the show in April, post-show, it was no secret that they didn't have the best show, but it also wasn't a secret that they did have one helluva talented cast.

The final performance was quite emotional. Before the show started you could hear the cast backstage rallying together for one final time, cheering and chanting briefly. Stephanie's entrance gathered huge applause. Hadley's entrance gather huge applause. Linda's entrance gathered huge applause. And it wasn't by just a few but by many. And it wasn't annoying. It was this great way to send all these people off with an amazing feeling...and more than just a job well done.

Intermission at the stage door was emotional with some crew members - talking about things - the dirty side of the business - the price for being in a theatre desired by a comedic legend and father of the largest Tony-winning show in Broadway history. You could sense the overall numbness and sense of defeat - especially from a group of people who seemed to work so hard to make what they had work.

The second half of the show - more emotional than the first. Tears in Ms. Block's eyes at the end...Marcus Chait was visibly fighting back tears. After flowers were brought out, Ms Block mouthed "good bye" to the audience, covered her eyes and motioned for the curtain to come down.

Again, no not the best show, but a good show, one that may have deserved a little longer life on Broadway. The cast was truly phenomenal and amazing. Talented beyond belief.
