"They're singing, "Happy Birthday"
You just wanna lay down and cry
Not just another birthday, it's 30/90
Why can't you stay 29
Hell, you still feel like you're 22
Turn 30 in 1990
Bang! You're dead, what can you do?"

Hairspray is an AMAZING show with LOTS of high energy and catchy songs. what other show is going to have you laughing every few seconds??? i've done standing room a few times and i didn't care. you'd think you'd get tired, but i barely realized i was standing for 2 and a half hours because of how much into the show i was. this is THE show i have seen the most times... i'm up to 9 times. and yet i'm still noticing something new everytime i see it. thanks to Marc and everyone else involved for giving us this show
i'm going tomorrow and looking forward to seeing michelle kittrel as penny again, though I do love Tracy Miller so much.
I love how much fun this show is, the amazing music and lyrics, and how somewhere woven in with all the high energy songs and the seemingly innocent story is a message and a lesson and the fantastic "not so in your face" approach to the race issue, among others, that sort of sneaks up on you during the show.
It is impossible to see this show and not leave happy- it is not only one of the most energetic and fun musicals i've ever seen, it has a moving story which makes it that much more fabulous. And of course who doesn't love the music- i have to say that the current bway cast is very impressive- no big names or anything- but i went back recently after having seen the OBC years ago and i was so impressed with the talent that is in the show right now- so everyone see it again and again and again!!
Love this show, Especially Harvey in the Original Cast. This was a show I didn't know if I would enjoy too being a big fan of the original film and Divine, But it was done so well!! I did always think Bette would have shown up one night and filled in for Linda Hart being as how they are close and Bette had $$$ in the show - but alas, no. I'm happy for all the Tony Winners - Harvey, Dick and I just wish the Female Lead was a tie with Bernadette Peters, Bernie deserved a win for "Gypsy" too, But "Hairspray" is a wonderful show. I cannot wait to see John Travolta as Edna in the film with Billy Crystal as Wilbur!! Maybe Bette will do the film, she seems to love that media - hey, it pays more.

Not at all!! I see the show once a week. Thank goodness for the lottery!! It's a high enrgy, upbeat musical with catchy songs. Tracy Miller is without a doubt one of the funniest actresses on Broadway. I enjoy seeing the show. I'm sure the cast probably thinks I'm some weird loser, but it's such a good show that I've become addicted to it!!
okay, i love this show sooooooooo much! i wrote about it in another thread which i will post the link too because im too lazy to write it again!!! and i will try to post my backstage video sometime!
