I am currently listening to Idina on the wicked CD and she is just amazing. She has one of the best voices I have ever heard. I would definately like to see her in the movie when it comes out. She would definately fit the part better than brandy anyway. I let my mom listen to it and she said that Idina was better than Soshana Bean. I've never heard of Idina before, what else has she done? Any movies?
it totally kills me to hear people saying that stars such as Jessica Simpson would be able to pull of Broadway roles. HA, are you joking? singing pop is a TOTALLY different ballgame than singing Broadway, take it from a girl who is working her ass off as a vocal performance major. I'm not saying Jessica can't sing, I'm just saying she can't sing Broadway.
"you can take the girl out of Hicksville, but you can't take the Hicksville out of the girl." ~Rent
She was in the obc of Rent. She is in the movie to be released in Nov. Get the OBC recording of Rent. I am sure you will love it. She is married to Taye Diggs, too.
Idina: This is called a kielbasa!
Pianist: It's called a 'KA-basa'...
Idina: It's called a kabasa? Oh, a KIEL-basa's a sausage, isn't it? I CAN PLAY THAT TOO! HULLO!!
Thanks WickedJerseyGirl, its nice to see that some people around here actually have manners. I will do a search on Idina. Perhaps I will share what I find.
I wouldn't recommend sharing what you find...lol. Most have either seen it or don't care to. Good luck, though.

Totally off topic: But does anyone else get annoyed by people who feel they have the right to make fun of people because of the show they like? I mean whenever someone mentions Wicked on this board it becomes (no pun intended) a virtual witch hunt.
I love Wicked (dur...) but that does not make me a mindless fangirl. I love so many other shows but I also can't stand others. But I don't mow down anyone who loves I show i dislike.
OK... I love talking about who will be the next Elpaba as much as the other... but there have been sevral threads about this. I'm talking double digits. So please use the search funciton, it's up at the top, on the right hand side. K? Thanks.
I think that maybe they should cast bluewizard as elphaba

I don't really feel like looking back to the beginning of the thread to see if this is about Broadway or the movie that's probably never gonna happen, so I'll just say both.
Movie: Idina Menzel, just because she was in the OBC. Broadway: Mandy Gonzalez. For serious. I absolutely think she could pull it off.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

And I can't handle rude people. But I guess I have to get used to it if I am going to stick around on this board. But anyway, what does everyone think about Hillary Duff as Glinda in the film version of wicked. We know the girl can sing and act, but does she have what it takes to fill the role?
Oh god, absolutely not. She doesn't have the acting chops or the voice. And speaking of chops... those are NUTS!

I'm sorry to bring this back to life (don't kill me for it)... but it is the funniest thing I have EVER read. I don't have anything to say, that hasn't been said already (and that isn't really insulting), but I'm totally for the "casting" of this "movie" (I lost it at "the entire cast of Assassins as Elphaba" and then when Hillary Duff was seriously suggested). I just realized why I love so many of the people on here.
Elyse. No day but Today.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
