I think Ocean's 11 would make a good transistion to stage. Especially if David Yazbek does the music. I imagine this one like a Full Monty type of show. Just an idea.

I made a list of all your faults, it was quite detailed and lengthy too and when I read it through I missed you. Your like a classic Eagles song, you just cant help but sing along even though it sometimes gets annoying too. I just know I want to be wherever I can wake and see you there next to me. **High Fidelity** Love is what I do **The Wedding Singer** Xanadu - Best NEW Musical of the Season!

I would love to see Waiting for Guffman on the stage.

Sondheim at one time considered Dennis Potters movie DREAMCHILD. I wish Adam Guettel would do it.

I think Dick Tracy could be incredible. If they could somehow get Sondheim to write more songs for it, ones that really actually forwarded the plot...

Not sure if some of these would necessarily be "great", but certainly some would be "interesting" to see as musicals:

Tootsie
The Sting
American Graffiti
Topper
Libeled Lady
Working Girl
The Cotton Club
Ghost
Thelma & Louise (OK, I don't know how they would do the climax)
Bringing Up Baby or What's Up Doc
Risky Business
Dangerous Liaisons
The Mask of Zorro
Mrs. Doubtfire
Arsenic and Old Lace
Bull Durham
To Die For
Ever After
The Devil and Miss Jones
While You Were Sleeping
An Ideal Husband
Any of the Jane Austin films like Sense & Sensibility, Pride & Prejudice, but particularly Emma
The Picture of Dorian Gray (I know they did it off-Broadway)

Also, since Kiss of the Spider Woman and The Color Purple have been turned into musicals, what about the other Best Picture nominees for 1985: Witness, Prizzi's Honor and Out of Africa. The last two especially might make interesting shows.

Lady Italy - "You've Got Mail"? Have you seen "She Loves Me"?

I don't think they could pull off an updated version.

Driving Miss Daisy's a good one though.

I also got excited a while ago thinking of the musical of "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie".

I think The Nighmare Before Christmas might do good on stage. Since it's already a musical all they would have to do is write a few more songs and adapt the book for the stage. I don't know if it would be great but I think in the hands of the right creative team, it could be good. Now that I think about it, I can't remember who did the music for the movie.

Danny Elfman did the music for The Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as the music for many of Tim Burton's other films (Most notably the incredible scores for Batman and Batman Returns).

Years and years ago, I heard they were workshoping a musical version of "Little House on the Praire". Whatever happened to it?! Anyone know anything about it?

I also have been involved with a few musical versions of the "Robin Hood" story. One of them is incredible and I'm trying to find a way to get it to Broadway. Now sure how to start a process like this . . . but looking to books and research on it. I guess "Rent" and "Annie" are great research on how to workshop a musical to Broadway?

Always thought Neil Simon's "MURDER BY DEATH" would be tremendous as a musical (as long as it included Dave Grusin's superb main theme.)

Speaking of Grusin, I agree with the above poster that "TOOTSIE" would be amazing, and seem to recall that it was in the works with Alan & Marilyn Bergman, his lyricists on the film's Oscar-nominated song "It Might Be You."

I don't think it'd fare very well, but I think Ferris Bueller's Day Off would be interesting.

Matthew Broderick could reprise the title role.
