I don't like her voice on the Little Women clips, but I love it in Millie. Who knows when those clips were recorded and under what circumstances. Demo clips are not the best to judge performances on.

No. I have no desire to listen to that soundtrack. I guess I'll just sit back and bitch that I don't like her voice even though I really don't care. lol

If it makes you feel any better BBE, I don't care one way or another about Suttons voice. She seems like a nice gal, and even though I thought MILLIE was crap, she really earned her Tony for working her ass off on that stage.
I don't hate her but don't go wild for her either. She doesn't seem 'distinctive' enough for me. I find her slightly cold and mechanical. And I've seen her in other things besides MILLIE and my opinion remained the same.
I will say that a friend of mine who feels exactly as I did saw LITTLE WOMEN and reported that Sutton had shown remarkable improvement in his words : "You would not believe it was the same actress - she is LIGHT YEARS better than she was in MILLIE", so I'll give her another try.
He did say that Sutton was the best thing in the show by far and that the rest was a "big boring lump of crap-a-roni" with forgettable songs.
Sutton Foster is sooooooo gorgeous, I dunno what kinda crack you gotta be smoking to see pictures of her and not be blown away by her natural, all american beauty. I think she's so beautiful, it makes me hella jealous.
Secondly, her voice - puh-leeze. That girl is so damn talented it ain't even funny. Just watching the Little Women rehearsal video thing that's up at Broadway.com makes me teary because she's so amazingly inspiring.
I think she's a great example of the kind of person who deserves all of the acclaim she's gotten and the type of person that should be up there for young people to admire: she went to an Ivy League university, when she talks she's not all "yeah, lol, that's hot" and crap like some people who are out there for young girls to look up to - she's incredibly eloquent, genuine, and intelligent. She's not out half naked all the time - in general, I think she has a lot of class and gives off a very warm vibe. I think she's great.
Y'all that don't see that need to stay off the crack. It kills.
:) Apologies if I offend anyone here - I'm just playin' around. I can agree to disagree with those of you who don't think Sutton is a goddess for the better of the board, lol.
If I show you the darkness I hold inside, will you bring me to light?
Mister Matt, I know you're not new here. The "sit back and bitch" line was a joke as usual and I know you saw my "lol" after the statement even though you didn't copy/paste it also. I am one of the more open minded people in all reality and I AM going to see LITTLE WOMEN and post a follow up.
I know many people who call it soundtrack. I know most people and esspecially those from NY call it a "cast recording" but I come from the West and for some reason I call it soundtrack so why should I change? Stop the debates on that every time I say soundtrack for god's sake.
bronx - I'm not new here, but I do notice you say a lot of stuff just for the sake of getting people riled up. You use the "lol", then call someone a dictator and a snob. One of the reasons I pointed out the soundtrack thing is because you do know the difference, so why call it a soundtrack at all? It's like calling a cat a potato.

I'm slightly confused by this statement. If you don't like Broadway singers who sound "broadway", what do you like? I'm assuming your speaking in regards to a penchant for shows like Rent, Brooklyn, et. al. If that's the case, fine. But your playlist is going to be substantially short. And your robbing yourself of some great music. Until, I'd say, the mid 1980's, you couldn't get any sound other than a "broadway" sound. Don't miss an opportunity to hear great music like Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cy Coleman, Cole Porter, The Gershwins, etc. If your not a fan of old school that's fine. But I beg of you, don't let that get in the way of hearing some beautiful music.

I whole-heartedly concur with rKrispyt here. Amen.

Okay so I was listening to TMM CD today, and I listened closley to Sutton's voice. I'll give you this bronxboundexpress, she does has some nasal thing going on but it's so small I can only hear it if i really listen. I'm not saying I disagree with what I said about before, I still think she's amazing!!!!
"It's a great feeling of power to be naked in front of people. We're happy to watch actual incredible graphic violence and gore, but as soon as somebody's naked it seems like the public goes a bit bananas about the whole thing."
personally i loved her on the recording of millie but i liked susan egan better
i saw little woman on friday and i have to say i wasn't blown away - her acting skills were awesome but i only found her singing so-so, i think it must have been the part - b/c i mean the woman won a tony and she sounds great on the millie recording
