Was the TV star the office guy?

An easy read that sums up all the known drama and adds in some new-to-me info, like the fact that they are auditing the production once it closes. Hmmmmm. It hurts to read that they had people lined up to do the show this fall before the drama scared them away.

I'll be there this weekend to see the show off.

I also found this additional response to Rafael Casal from Joey Cassata, the Great Comet drummer, which really makes me want an all out exposé done on the situation where, you know, the actual Great Comet cast gets to chime in: https://twitter.com/JoeyCassata/status/901876321772601344

"

Oh snap, did not know Nick Choksi also responded to this.

"He isn't part of the cast."

Well, he IS the Comet's drummer, and from that, probably knows more than you. So can you please... just... f**k off?

I believe that someone employed by the show and spends most of his time with the show knows more than someone who (i think, correct me if I'm wrong) has only been participating in this through social media....

Cynthia is so obnoxious. What good does she see in being so hateful towards people? And he's the drummer... I'm pretty sure he's with the production.

Jesus, I'm really starting to loathe her over this.  What she and Casal did was appalling and they should be ashamed of themselves for it.  I wish they would just own up to it, but instead she just keeps defending herself and claiming that she knows some sort of information that no one else does, which she doesn't.  She needs to knock off that attitude before it hurts her career.

Really, now that it's so close to closing, it feels like now everyone should just kind of take a step back and appreciate the show and remind ourselves how lucky we are to be able to experience something like GC. There's no reason to keep dragging out this drama (coughErivocough), it's not as if anything's going to change. I'm going to go listen to GC now and think about how absolutely wonderful this show is. Everyone involved deserved better.

I would absolutely trust what the show's drummer says much more than I would Cynthia Erivo, Keyboard Warrior.

This whole episode has made me REALLY dislike her.

Jesus Christ, how tone deaf is Cynthia to tell a guy who just got unemployed that she's "going on vacation"?

LOL She's truly out touch as is the twitter handle "broadway black" I think people actually IN the show know what happened. She's acting like she knows exactly what happened when in reality she created a false hysteria and call to arms. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE PERIOD. I'm so upset this show is closing...

I read elsewhere that a star of his statue is expected to lead a show to recoupment during their run and since he didn't he "failed". That seems ridiculous to me given how high the grosses where while he was there and how significantly they fell after he left.

"

None of this is Groban's fault. He played the number of weeks he was scheduled to, and that was never a guarantee to pay back the investors in full -- just something to jumpstart their sales and to ensure that a broad audience saw this quirky show. Obviously, it wasn't enough for it to take off after that, but that is not Groban's fault -- it's the way the show was budgeted.

I was at tonight's performance. I admit I cried throughout the final number. I've seen this show three times in the last 3 weeks and 4 times total, and it just gets better each time. Dave Malloy's voice is definitely more of an acquired taste than Josh Groban or Scott Stangland but he invests so much heart in his portrayal. I watched him play the piano for much of Act One, totally immersed in the music. As for the other members of this diverse, talented cast, I know I'll see them again. But I'm not sure I'll ever see them in such a unique setting.

I bought the souvenir book. It's a real beauty btw -- a nice coffee table book. But I urge anyone who has not seen this beautiful musical yet -- see it before Sunday. There are still tickets available.

The energy of the audience was so warm. Huge ovations after every number, just a real positive vibe. As I left I felt like I was saying goodbye to an artistic family.

As for Cynthia Erivo, I really don't have words for her. She should have gone to the show, and seen all the talented POC in this cast and creative and the musicians and really saved her judgment. I still admire her as an artist enormously but as a person? Eh.

"you are [...] misled. I'm going back to vacation"

"No no he is not a part of the cast."

"No love I'm in Hawaii."

This is SO BEYOND RUDE!!! I mean, seriously! It's one thing if she were involved with the show in any capacity, but she literally has ZERO ties to Comet. Her continued commentary on this sensitive topic is completely unnecessary.

If you like the cast as much as I do, Lauren Zakrin's Instagram Stories has a bunch of amazing pictures (including one of her onstage with Lucas Steele where he's pretty much feeling her up during Natasha and Anatole). Shoba's Instagram takeover was also pretty interesting. Kennedy Coughell has also been posting a bunch of Instagram Live videos, including one with Scott Stangland, and backstage stuff.

I really don't want to believe this show is ending in a few days.

She has seen it twice that I know of, which makes it even more frustrating. She's also friends with Lucas Steele. Wonder what their conversations lately (if any) have been like.

Considering Lucas made a very beautiful but pointed video highlighting the show's diversity and the "family" atmosphere of the show and saying that this show touched peoples' hearts because they saw 'someone in the room who was them' I would imagine that it's awkward between Steele and Erivo. But honestly, that video was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
