So earlier I asked about the prospects of Spring Awakening switching theaters, but the more I think about it, I realize that was not such a good question. Now, I want to know, will they resort to stunt casting? I know Hunter Parish is on Weeds but that is a cable show so he won't bring in the masses. Who do you all think they could bring in for a box off bump?
"I want the entire cast of SAVED BY THE BELL to do this show."
That would be hilarious...I used to watch that show all the time.

Just teenage girls? I would pay big bucks to see Zac's Ass!
"He found something that he wanted, had always wanted and always would want— not to be admired, as he had feared; not to be loved, as he had made himself believe; but to be necessary to people, to be indispensable."

How about casting some talent across the cast. I saw the show last week, so I missed Hunter. But other than the understudy who was on and the Mortiz, the rest of the company was terrible (and I'm being kind here.) They were not inovlved, showed no character development, and it felt like they were just going through the paces (now I move here and raise my hand, now I cross here and stand on the chair, now I jump aruond for 8 counts and then cross the stage...). It was all very boring and extremely disapointing as I loved the show when the original cast was in it. I don't think hiring "stars" will save this show. With the economy the way it is, people aren't going to pay good money to see one or two good actors working with 18 other actors whose talent is mediocre at best. Just my two cents.
I saw the new cast and was not impressed either. Gerard Canonico is GOOD as Moritz...but not fab; Morgan Karr (sp?) as swing/understudy for Ernst was AMAZING, and I really liked the New Georg....whose name I forget.
The rest of the new crop? Not terribly fond of them. They are NOT ready for B'way. IMHO.
RUMOR has it that the tour cast is excellent however, and it seems that THAT'S what the producers are MOST concerned with....if someone could explain THAT to me.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I remember Spring Awakening doing something with the cast of Degrassi a while back. I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if they cast someone from that show.

I overnight rushed and went to the last show of Skylar, Remy, Phoebe, Brian and Lilli back on July 19th. While I was rushing, Ira Pittleman [one of the producers of SA] came up to me and my fellow rushers and was telling us how they were uber exicited about the "new class" of kids and Hunter. He told us we should tell our friends about Hunter.
I haven't seen the new cast yet, but I have heard them and I just don't enjoy what I'm hearing. Skylar and Brian MADE their roles more than just one-note roles, you got bits of good, pretty great characterzation. Same with Lilli, Remy and Phoebe. I will go and make my more accurate judgements of the new cast, but from what I've heard on here and TGO, it ain't pretty.

He's a faker, and you've been taken in by his con. And in doing so, you are enabling him. He is doing more damage to aspergers than papa's words ever could. -Chane/Liverpool on me having asperger syndrome.
Most shows end up with stunt casting as things begin to fade. (and I'm not saying that things HAVEN'T begun to fade for SA)Just because someone isn't already KNOWN for their stage work doesn't necessarily mean that it is stunt casting. AND just because a name is popular (for right or wrong reasons) it doesn't meant the actor MIGHT not still be a good casting choice.
I really liked the new Georg....ESPECIALLY compared to the rest of the new "brood". His less than stellar piano skills didn't really bother me, he is a smitten student after all. I was pretty dissappointed in the rest of them except for Morgan Karr (ensemble/understudy taking over Gerard Canonico's chair).
