I don't think they'll be able to get anyone funnier or better than Jackie Hoffman for Mary Lazarus. Shame that her apparent "feud" with Zaks might preclude her involvement.
TheatreFan4, while I think Shindle is completely wrong for the role, there's nothing in the script that says Mary Robert has to be "little." Marla Mindelle is 5'8, so she's certainly far from short.
As I said earlier, as much as I enjoy her, I really don't find Jackie Hoffman to be such a perfect fit for Mary Lazarus. If the London incarnation was any indication in terms of redefining the character types, I expect they're going to go for someone genuinely older, in the Rita Gardner mold. Phyllis Sommerville would just be perfection, but Audrie Neenan, who originated the role in Pasadena/ Atlanta, was pretty genius. She has a downright eery resemblance to Mary Wickes from the film, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she was back in the mix for the Broadway production.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
I'll let you (TheatreFan4) know the character requirements when i get my script. Not everything has to be according to the films things can be changed. Heck they changed the setting and the music styles totally from the movie, why not change the height of a character?
That's certainly an improvement upon the earliest versions of the London artwork, upon which it's based.

^ I don't know who's she's playing. She could be in the ensemble or she may have a small part. Someone who knows her well told me she'd be part of the show. Updated On: 12/4/10 at 12:37 PM
Anyone know when we should expect offical cast announcements? I heard a rumour Nancy Opel had a role, althought I'm not sure how much truth there is to it.

Saw a facebook rumor that De'Adre Aziza might be in this. I would assume as the standby as Delores. I think she's too good to be a standby, but I would definitely love to see her in the role.
"Ahh, was hoping for someone more exciting for Mary Roberts."
I was hoping the actress who would play Sister Mary Robert on Broadway would be someone I was familiar with. I was excited when I found out Katie Rowley Jones would be doing it London. When I listened to Anneliese van der Pol's "A Change in Me" I thought oh I can see her nailing the notes in "Raise Your Voice."
I imagined they'd have announced the Mother Superior by now. I have a feeling now that they'll first announce the rest of the cast then the Mother Superior.

I wonder if Whoopi will do something on The View to announce the cast. I'm surprised she hasn't starting promoting the show on The View with it a little over 2 months before previews start.
