I posted this in the Jera thread but it needs to be said again! Sara's way more suited in this role than Eden!! just LISTEN to the clip wow! and i'm pretty judgmental about my pocahontas voices because i actually didn't like the movie and the singing was all there was to hold on to
And, Eden doesn't look the part. I'm sorry. But voice isn't everything. You need to look the part and she just doesn't To me, Ramirez has the whole package.

She's a little wide in the hip, and a little busty for pocohantas...in the disney film she looks in her mid early -mid 20s. i just dont think sara makes the cut

Pocahontas doesn't wear pants...the hips wouldn't be very noticable. Besides...have you seen her in person? She's not a very big woman...in fact...she's quite small. And as far as talent goes...Eden is a pop singer...through and through. She's very talented. But she screeches. Sara has a much more smooth and powerful voice. She is Pocahontas. She would be perfect.

considerin that the costume basically ends after the hips, i think it would be quite noticable..plus she'd probably have to lose a good bit of weight, i don't think any producer would want a husky pocohantas....unless Jenny Craig produced it?

The woman has talent coming out of the ass. Did you see the picture of her in the pink shirt on the first page? If that is wide in the hip than Eden Espinosa is anorexic.

Yeah her low notes make me want to turn on my Ethel Merman Disco CD to releave the pain..I'm not saying she's not talented, just not up to par for the role.

Sara any day over Eden. Eden would screech those sweet Menken songs and the meaning would be lost in melisma. Sara has a very flexible voice. I do think she has an absolutely horrid break, though, and several of the songs in Spamalot show it off to her detriment (for example, listen to Marin Mazzie. The woman's voice is seamless). That said, her voice is pretty remarkable and her range is great and I think they'd be able to write some fantastic new stuff for a stage adaptation of the musical. Plus, all you people who keep saying Sara is fat, go see Spamalot. She's not a size 2 but she's GORGEOUS. So real-looking and absolutely, undeniably hotter than any of the skinny dancers prancing around her in the ensemble. She ranks up there with Idina and Alice Ripley for the hottest women of Broadway.
Have you heard Eden sing Pocahontas or any other Disney song? She doesn't screech at all. I think both ladies have wonderful voices and would suit the role well.
i think pocahontas should kinda be a little husky. lol i know i know but she's supposed to be a "woman of the land" type of person and not pop/barbie. not that eden's a barbie but i see no issues with weight in Sara Updated On: 4/17/05 at 09:31 PM
"Doesn't the Disney version neglect the fact that Pochahontas was 13 or so when the action actually happened, and that John Smith raped her... "
---> My thoughts exactly.
OK, since there are "no current plans" to bring Pocahontas to Broadway, why debate over whether Eden or Sara will play it? By the time it gets to Broadway, IF it gets to Broadway, both of them could be long gone from our radars, and two new young divas could be debated. I say hang out until plans are announced to even DO the show...which I don't understand, since the movie was horrible anyway!
Ok, I'm done. Have a good day everyone.
Oh, and the next person who implies that Sara Ramirez is fat should be locked away. Its people like that who lead society into thinking women need to weigh 9 pounds to be attractive. Sara is a gorgeous woman.
Have any of you SEEN the film? Pocahantas is the most busty and most "hippy" of all the Disney Heroines. (Ok, Noni in Lilo & Stitch has bigger hips, but that is very different animation style) The pic's on this thread are the only ones I've seen of Ms. Ramirez, but I think she is beautiful and a perfect size. The discussion of her size is what's wrong with the image of women in this country.
...and your children start to leave you from the moment they are born.
I vote for Grandma Moses, becuase that's the age Sara Ramirez and Eden Espinoza will be by the time Disney gets around to adapting POCAHONTAS for the stage.
