Tony Award-Winning PARADE Revival On Tour

I guess Suskauer’s online temper tantrum about not being cast in the Funny Girl tour is being rewarded…

Little Shop...Who Leads? Anyone know?

I didn’t know Nicholas Christopher is only 34. Huh. Anyway, I love SRS, but 57 is definitely too old for the part. Ellen Greene did it in a concert version, and having originated in the role and played it in the movie, it was kind of a special event. Rob McClure was also a great Seymour I’m sure, but with the whole “Mushnik and Son” subplot, a 42 year old seems a bit of a stretch.

Speaking of Rob McClure, I recently saw him in the Mrs. Doubtfire tour, and whatev

If Joy Woods is indeed playing Louise, it was kind of an odd flex to say on social media that’s she’s not. Or maybe she was in final callbacks and she didn’t know yet. I can see why Audra probably did it as a “That’s right producers, you better meet my terms” move, but…yeah it seems pretty obvious at this point that Joy Woods and Jordan Tyson are Louise and June - the production might as well announce it already.

Scott and Christopher are supremely talented, but having Seymour and Audrey be in their 40's/50's is an odd choice.

Interesting. If several A-listers have indeed declined the role of Herbie, it will probably end up being Corey Stoll or someone like that.

In cases like this, a standby is hired only because AEA requires it. They will typically cancel a performance if the star is unable to go on. Years ago I worked with the guy who was the standby for Brian Dennehy in Death of a Salesman at The Goodman. When the show transferred to Broa

I heard that rumor too - and that Jessie Mueller will be Audra's alternate, so every Wednesday matinee will be an On A Clear Day reunion!!!

He does qualify as a Tony winner (for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Catch Me If You Can) who has done drag (in Is He Dead?). I think he's a great choice for Herbie.

Looking forward to this production.

I would be surprised if he was in this, considering he's starring in Vladmir at MTC in a few weeks.

Considering America's gun problem, is ANNIE GET YOUR GUN incapable of being revived responsibly?
 Sep 6 2024, 01:27:36 AM

Although I haven’t seen the show since the Peters revival, I don’t think the guns would be a problem. Target shooting is indeed a sport - and a fun one, I must say. The show glorifies the sport, not murder.

Considering that I thought it was an unbearably cheesy show when I saw it as a teenager twenty years ago, I imagine it would play even worse now - especially, as another poster pointed out, with its depiction of Native Americans. It has some nice songs, but there&rs

The standard for what gets deleted on this board has never been consistent in my two decades of posting here. That said, from my observation, deleted posts tend to fall into one of three categories:

a) something particularly harsh is said about a very beloved Broadway actor (usually if it's about their personal life/personality etc. rather than an opinion about a performance)

 b) the post is unusually mean towards a particular board member (bullying, name-calling, etc.)

SARAH BRIGHTMAN - Sunset Blvd in Sydney

Out of place classical style of singing of a pop ballad aside, vocally she sounds fine with this clip. The problem for me though is that there is zero acting happening - no vulnerability, joy, or catharsis for one of the biggest moments in this character's life. I know it's an 80 second clip, but considering that this is an essential scene in the show, it's rather telling.

She's also doing that weird breathing technique that some critics pointed out...rather d

I'm going off of the audition notice, which doesn't say June should be able to "pass" as white, just that she is biracial (light skinned Black). Even without the concept, Joy Woods just seems more like a June to me. But whatevs. Louise is a great part so I'm happy for her.

[JUNE] 18+ to play Teens through 20s. Biracial; her mother is Black and her father is White. Female identifying. Mezzo Soprano with a high chest extension. Although she is in her mid-teens, Dain

I thought the concept was to have Louise be dark-skinned and June mixed race and light skinned? Joy Woods would seem to be more of a June in this case...

Out of curiosity: why? I didn’t watch 13 Reasons Why, but I strongly recall seeing her in an adaptation of La Ronde before that show was even in production and thinking she was exceptionally talented.

It’s clear this production is going for a “young people playing all ages” concept, so I’m not sure why Tommy as

Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk & Bill Burr Will Lead GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS on Broadway, Spring 2025
 Aug 8 2024, 04:20:31 PM

I don't understand the level of hand-wringing that is happening here over Mamet's most famous play getting another revival, especially because, whether he intended it to be or not, it is essentially a satire of straight white men. The point is to laugh and cringe at how awful they are. This is why Kieran Culkin was cast - it's basically Succession with real estate salesmen.
