Part of it will always be about grabbing their attention but it's not during the show.
But I don't know how to convince you that this is more about supporting the show than us getting attention and I definitely think there are some cast members who really appreciate that. Once again, I don't know for sure, I'm not them, but I think that I would if I was on that stage.
Well, now that we have all brought their behavior out on a public message board, I am quite sure these girls will be rethinking how they act. Even if they plan to act the same way, subconsciously, they will definitely rethink saying or doing anything. I think the point has been hammered in enough. I must say though, Holly, you answered with maturity and levelheadedness and for that, I give you props. A lot of fans would have whined and cried and said how "mean" everyone on here was and not actually said anything valid (which would have just fanned the fire.)
I don't necessarily agree with dressing up at shows, but I admire your chutzpah. (Love that word.)
I will probably be at or around the show tonight, depending on if Robyn is on. I want to catch her Holly.
I hope to see you there :)
BTw, how was rush this morning...Liotte, anyone? Is it all gone?

i think if i were onstage and some wailing little banshees were interrupting my songs or scenes, i'd stalk out into the audience and bash them severely about the head and neck...in character of course. but then, i'm not the one who has to deal with such things. i just feel that if i were in their position that's what i might want to do, if it were me, which it's not, so i won't, unless i happen to be there and have my broadway experience tarnished by some unconscionably selfish little tarts and then i might still do it, even though i'd still not be onstage but only in the audience.

Thank you for appreciating my levelheadedness. I'm not so much trying to like defend myself, I'm really trying to get people to just understand that we are fans too and we just show our fan-ness in a different way.
I hope you do see the show and you can make an "educated decision" about how we act. :)
It is nice that you're going and supporting the show, I appreciate that, I just think there are much less obtrusive ways of going about it. As I said, I appreciate the desire to dress up for things (I myself am an unabashed Star Wars nerd), but in my opinion broadway is just not the place for it (unless it's, like, Halloween or something).
l love you without knowing how... or when... or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride. I love you because I know no other way than this.

Well, I haven't witnessed any of this, so I won't comment about that. However I will say, as a performer, that it is annoyingly distracting when people pull stuff like that in the audience.

Well, as a performer, not Broadway yet so maybe I haven't gotten the Diva Disease yet, I really think I would appreciate it.
And I really think of all places Broadway is the place for it because it's the theater. Theater people are crazy. It's about not being yourself. I think it's a theatrical gesture of fandomness.
Theater people are crazy. It's about not being yourself.
Yes, ON stage.
If I've learned anything about going to the theatre it's that actors hate being screamed at in the face after a show with a bunch of: "OMG OMG You're like the bestest ever...I want your babies!&^@(*&@^@*&^" They are more apt to respond if you talk to them like a normal person. They will NEVER see you as normal if you keep showing up in costume. If this gives you the impression that you're bigger fans or something...it doesn't.

It's really not a diva thing. It's just really distracting to have someone dressed as you sitting staring at you in the front row... no matter who you are. I'm not on broadway or anything... but if I had fans I'd much rather they save the outpooring on fan-ness for the stage door, when I'm not trying to concentrate on doing my job.

I don't believe it is at the expense of the cast or the audience. There is absolutely no reason as to why it should be such an issue. When I say we put on a show, I don't mean in the show, I mean just in life. On the streets.
I wasn't responding to your comment, I was responding to Lea's account of your behavior.
Well, as a performer, not Broadway yet so maybe I haven't gotten the Diva Disease yet, I really think I would appreciate it.
Well maybe I worded myself wrong. I'm not on Broadway yet, and certainly don't have a "diva disease." My point is that when people can't sit still in the audience, or if they're being excessively loud, that's very distracting. I'm not saying that I don't appreciate someone clapping and cheering, because I do. There is nothing wrong with enjoying a show. However, I don't see any real need for excessively "enthusiastic" behavior like dressing up in costumes.

I never said we were bigger fans. I said we were DIFFERENT fans.
Different.
You know who really appreciated it? One of the costume people! She came out to take a picture of us and one of my sister who played George one night because she dressed him. This was before the show. Members of the cast came out to see us and take our pictures while getting ready with their stockings on their heads, ready to put on their wigs and EVERYTHING!
We at least know that those cast members DON'T hate us!
"you guys have to come outside and see the freakin' lunatics we got out there tonight, i swear you will not believe it!"

I agreed to stopping the stuff that I agree to consider "disrespectful", but we're not going to stop dressing up.
Is this going to become an issue at the performances? I mean if you come up and say something, whatever, but some of you seem really angry. You're not going to come and like throw soda or something on us are you?
We really don't do anything to you guys. We just sit there but some of you are making it seem like you're ready to ruin the performance for us. All I have done is apologize and say we'll take it down a notch but we're not going to stop dressing up. We're going to be on the side so just don't look at us if you find it THAT distracting.
But please don't go and intentionally ruin it for us. Bottom line, we're there to have fun, not ruin your show.
The behavior is one thing, if that's an issue, then it's a problem, but honestly, there are crappy misbehaving fans at every show, whether it's annoying children, constant wrapper noise, cell phone games, etc. We all know it.
You do know that there are people who go to Grey Gardens dressed up as Little Edie, right? I'm not making that up. Get over it - if they want to dress up, and that's all they're doing, what is the freakin' big deal?
Have I ever shown you my Shattered Dreams box? It's in my Disappointment Closet. - Marge Simpson
I'm with Rath. I couldn't care less how they dress, as long as they behave themselves. I've been responding to LeaGirl's account of their behavior, not to the fact that they were dressed up.
I think this horse is dead now, let's all stop beating it.
Yeah, guys, this is beating a dead horse. They aren't going to stop and it's only for like 10 more days (wow, that's soon - I just depressed myself) - let it go.

Well, from what I understood, the dressing up came with less than desirable behavior. I could be wrong. Whatever.

I don't think THIS horse will be dead beause once Wedding Singer closes, they need to find other showsd and theatres to infest.. most likely swarming after Wedding Singer cast members in future endeavors.......

And in a few years they will outgrow this behavior and there will be new kids who are overly enthusiastic about x show, and most of us will still be here complaining about it. I'm sure we were all silly over something when we were young. It happens. And then you grow up.
