Great. Now we can talk about how she robbed another performer next year the way her supporters kept saying how she was continually robbed the last times she was nominated and lost.
Great speech...but she should have won last year for BRIDGES. A little early for a "career" Tony. And sorry, but her "British" accent in TKAI made me crazy.
She should have won last year. This was a pity win but I'm still happy for her. Loved her acceptance speech and Kristin was such a good sport about it and was so funny.

Congratulations to Kelli!!! I am so happy for her as well. I do not think that this is a pity win either, far from it. I saw her in The King and I, and she was amazing! Well deserved indeed.
This was NOT a pity win. Her performance was flawless, elegant and exquisite. She was deserving plain and simple.
Her performance was flawless and great. But Kristin's was out on a whole other level. If Kelli didn't have the whole "I've been nominated 1000 times and haven't won yet" gimmick going for her, I think we all know she wouldn't have won tonight. But I'm happy for her.

If people were truly honest, they'd admit that had Kelli won last year, there would have been much less of a push for her to win this year and wouldn't have won.
I honestly do feel bad for Kristin since her career builded her up for Lily Garland. But, I am so freaking happy for Kelli. Kristin has already won a Tony. It's Kelli's time to shine.
Kristin's performance was great and completely different than Kelli's . Suffice to say, it comes down to your personal taste in musicals. I prefer the elegance of Kelli to the frenetic pace of Kristin's musical comedy role. Also, the fact that TKAI was a superior production of timeless classic also helped. For me, the right actress won for the right reason, she deserved it.
The only review of a show that matters is your own.

Many beautiful - and VERY different - performances by the women in this category, but I did shout for joy when Kelli's name was announced.
Her speech was perfect. It's always seemed that she didn't let this chase for an elusive Tony define her and her speech showed that. "I don't need this, but now that I have it I've got a few things to say" - perfect. But she was human enough to show that while she didn't need it, after five misses it feels awfully good to have it.
I find it very annoying people are saying Kelli got a sympathy win. It almost seems like you are disregarding her AMAZING work as an actress and singer. Kelli and Kristin were giving two different performances in two DIFFERENT shows. You can't compare them. I truly believe Kelli deserved it. I'm ecstatic that she won. She should have won last year as well. I'm all for discussing shoulda won etc but i think it's really offensive to disregard an actors work.
