I posted this in the previews thread but I'm hoping for a more immediate answer. Has anyone tried rushing 'The King and I'? Is it a lost cause or should I give it a shot? A rehearsal of mine was canceled today and I was gunna try and catch the matinee.
They do offer student rush: $32, cash or card, 1 ticket per student ID, two hours before curtain
At the performance I attended, I'd say about 20 students got tickets. I think the probability of getting a rush ticket depends on availability since I don't think Lincoln Center sets aside tickets specifically for rush.
I was wondering if anyone has tried rush recently, or if the show has even had rush recently. I was thinking about rushing the show this week on either Wednesday or Thursday and I was wondering if anyone has had any recent success.
Also, I'm only 20 so LincTix is sadly out of the question.
I'd love to know more about this too. I'm coming back to NYC in May, so after opening rush might be harder to obtain, but I was still wondering about it. Thanks!

My friend went to the box office last thursday and got was informed that the show is sold out til June (not true) so they dont have any rush tickets at all until then. If that's the case they should take that off their website
I tried to buy LincTix for any date over the next month, and none were available... So I tried to rush the show last Friday, and unfortunately the box office said they will be sold out for awhile, so she doesn't foresee student rush tix being available til late summer. Bummer.
If there was no rush in late April/early May, I'm gonna go out on a whim here and say there's still definitely no rush available these days. Just a hunch after, ya know, the show won four Tonys.
A friend of mine went to the box office on Sunday and asked about rush, and the man working in the box office said they've had rush - maybe one performance - if at all. Linc Tix are apparently hard to come by until July.

Try for student rush Tues, Wed and Thurs nights. The show is not selling out but the weekends and matinees are fuller. For 32 dollars you can get a seat in the orchestra.
Thanks! Do you know how quickly they sell out/when you should get there before the box office starts selling to have a good shot at a ticket? Do people still start lining up far in advance?
