....And just like that, this show has almost instantly developed a rabid, creepily-obsessed "fan" following. Are people lining up for rush tickets yet?
I'm actually excited for this. Even with the Rent following, their original fan base is a little older now. I'm definitely interested to see what the show is actually like.
What is wrong with over the top excitement?? I don't believe my enjoyment will have a negative effect on anyone else...if it does I would like to apologize in advance.
I never said anything about it having a negative effect on me. That's your perception on my simple observation. Almost like you're looking for the "haters."
....And just like that, this show has almost instantly developed a rabid, creepily-obsessed "fan" following.
Just like any other show with a composer or star with a popular following. Except I've yet to see anything really rabid or creepily-obsessed. Where are those posts?

The "synopsis" of this show so far sounds extremely boring. Like Scott Alan's bounded production HOME, the story sounds boring, but so far the revealed songs are great.
Where ever there is un-kind comments about this show on the internet...There I will be.
On a side note... Headband you couldn't be more right about the use of "OMG" or any other internet lingo in a news story. I would cry for humanity if Playbill used it.
Big fan of Idina and Anthony; not too familiar with LaChanze. This has box office gold written all over it. The RENTheads will keep this open for awhile.
Dammit. He really left a bad taste in my mouth when he came on here and bitched about people being negative about the RENT film. It's really hard to like him now.
Just like any other show with a composer or star with a popular following. Except I've yet to see anything really rabid or creepily-obsessed. Where are those posts?
No. Because it's written by the people who wrote NEXT TO NORMAL (rabid fan following) and stars Idina Menzel (WICKED - rabid fan following) and Anthony Rapp (RENT - rabid fan following). So all signs would lead to...a rabid fan following here. I was being hyperbolic in saying "just like that." The show will obviously have to start performances first, but the crazies will surely go all out for this. Have you not heard the stories of the candlelight vigil for Idina Menzel's last show in WICKED? Or the people who claimed that certain seats at N2N were "theirs"?
Too early to ask but, my question is, who is even going to replace these "A-List" people when they leave the show? Or is it even going to keep running...
OK, I heard about the candlelight vigil, but people claiming "their" seats at the Booth?! Jeez, I've been to that theater a bunch of times, and I don't remember the exact seats I've sat in, nor do I really care to remember. Those people must live in a universe where there are 26 hours in a day because I don't have the time to care about that sh*t. Or they just don't have lives in the normal universe.
No. Because it's written by the people who wrote NEXT TO NORMAL (rabid fan following)
Fans, perhaps, but not rabid.
and stars Idina Menzel (WICKED - rabid fan following)
She definitely has a lot of fans and Wicked definitely has a lot of fans, but I haven't seen anything that amounted to rabid or creepy-obsessed with regards to this show other than those who keep complaining about the potential for crazy fans.
and Anthony Rapp (RENT - rabid fan following)
Oh, they obviously stopped following by the time You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown opened since the show couldn't give tickets away.
Have you not heard the stories of the candlelight vigil for Idina Menzel's last show in WICKED?
Do you know how long ago that was? And did you know it wasn't for her last show? Yes, tween girls can act like idiots. Just like Sondheim fans can act like idiots and Patti fans can act like idiots and Ukranian sock puppets can act like idiots.
Or the people who claimed that certain seats at N2N were "theirs"?
Never heard about that. I did see lots of video footage of Alice Ripley acting much crazier than any fans I've seen, though.
The show will obviously have to start performances first, but the crazies will surely go all out for this.
Or will they be the ones all paranoid about the possible rabid fan base? Because this article seems to have more effect on them than the potential rabid crazy fans.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Based only on Mister Matt's personal observations, no rabid fan followings exist. Easy to never be wrong using that logic. Perhaps you have not seen anything that classifies as "rabid," but others on this Board clearly have.
1) Complain endlessly about the dearth of musicals not based on movies 2) Resist giving credit when original musicals are actually produced, because they are overrated, overhyped, and their fan bases "too devoted." 3) Repeat as necessary!
Tongue firmly in cheek. Cautiously optimistic and extremely excited about the show -- but harbor no ill will toward anyone who isn't! To each his/her own.
