He'll be with the show through Oct. 12 only. I would imagine they'll attempt to have someone replace Rannells afterwards. Oh, and in regards to P!nk, she's rumored to be pregnant.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I have been waiting to see if Hedwig extended before booking anything for my fall trip so I was excited to see this news. I love Rannells in Girls, and like him a great deal more than NPH. Bought my tickets.
I think Rannells is great- he's never disappointed me in anything he's done. But he doesn't scream "I MUST SEE THIS HEDWIG" the way NPH or some of the other names mentioned are.
I think this will be a "can the show survive on its own name" experiment, not a "Darren Criss in H2S" situation. And I think it may genuinely impact who gets to step into the boots next. If they find they don't need a superstar, they're not likely to want to PAY a superstar.
I don't see Rannells gettin' down and dirty, but it's a pretty good call. I'm thinking NPH will come back at some point. Didn't he just move back to NYC?
I would be interested if, besides Pink, they talked to rock star Jack White. I believe he's acted, and he would get the musical energy of the show, as well as the role-playing provocateur aspects. (Remember his "fling" with his "sister" Meg?)
Wait. No. When they first became known, they pretended they were brother and sister. A journalist dug around and found out they had actually been married but weren't anymore.
And I think some of these ideas, like Jack White as Hedwig or the pregnant Pink, are just a bit pie in the sky. But Hedwig teaches us to dream big. And have those dreams come crashing down. So it is in keeping with the show.
I think Andrew Rannells is a fine choice! I'll actually purchase a ticket now! Not that I dislike Doogie...I just have had no desire to see him. After seeing his performance on the Tony Awards, I'm glad I didn't reconsider. Rannells? Absolutely!!! Adam Lambert? Eeeewwww!!! Gurrrllll, puhleeze!!!
Yeah. I wasn't implying they were actually related or that they were actually incestuous, but much like Hugh Jackman took the sexuality rumors in the 2000s and had some fun with them, Jack and Meg intentionally obscured the nature of their relationship because they liked keeping people confused.
And I still can't believe Rannells is doing so well these days- but it's the Pokemon Reverse Curse. Everybody who was in Pokemon Live went on to big musical theatre success.
I wonder if Matt Bomer would be interested in playing Hedwig. He doesn't have the strongest voice, but he's very talented and would sell a lot of tickets.
