i think its cool that Ragtime was one of your picks, Gypsy! The "rocky Horror" i talked about in the first psot of this thread's star was Steven Sutcliffe as Dr. Frank-n-Furter. He was in the OBC of "Ragtime"!

I saw Les Miserables when I was 9, and from then on, I was hooked. I remember not fully understanding the story (again, I was 9), but my parents tell me I was on the edge of my seat, mesmorized by the show, the entire time. Les Miz still is my favorite show! :)

first show I saw was Crazy For You when i was like 5 or 6. gave them standing ovation when i had no idea what that meant. and I loved musical movies and most of the musicals i saw after that.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~
It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known. ~A Tale of Two Cities ~
I used to be obbsessed with Peter Pan with Mary Matin when I was little. I also used to watch R and H's Cinderella. The very first live production I can remember seeing was Little Shop of Horrors.
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."
"Beauty and the Beast" got me into it. The movie, then the show. It really opened my eyes to the world of musical theatre. I had seen shows before that, but I was never really interested. Updated On: 3/6/06 at 07:39 PM
What got me hooked? Well, ANNIE of course, like so many other 7 year olds I saw it on Broadway way back when with my Mother and Grandmother, then I was hooked for life.
I liked musicals every since I was little because Les Miz, CATS, and Grease was always playing in our car. Last year, I watched West Side Story and I regained my love for the theatre. This year I saw RENT (movie, I want to see the play though)and now I'm the obsessed Theatre Dork I am today.
Well, if I'm nitpicking, it would be the "Wizard of Oz". I can't give an age, because as far back as I can remember this musical and myself were one. But as actual theatre goes, it would have to be the movie version of "Chicago". It got me really interested in musical theatre, and I got as many Fosse material on my hands as I could. It's the one musical that I know the most about, and one that never gets old. I guess it really hasn't been such a long time, but my now entire life is consructed around theatre. And I love it =)

Jesus Christ Superstar in Dayton Ohio with the original Movie Cast... in a basketball auditorium... and there was a fire backstage so guys had to run onto the stage with fire extinguishers... but dang if it wasn't the most powerful thing that had happened to me up to that point in life.

Movin Out. Say what you will, but it got me interested in Broadway productions. I never appreciated dancing until I saw that show live. I'm still a newbie to the Broadway world but it's fascinating.
