Posted: 6/19/05 at 9:29pmthere really are no bad seats at the Imperial in my opinion. center is great but even the seats off to the side are still great seats. because the theatre is so small even the mezzanine is relativly close to the stage...

I sat 1st row side Mezz. when I went and had a great view, I have no frame of reference to compare in that particular theater, but personally in general I enjoy being closer even if it means side because I like seeing their facial expressions... Esp. for DRS the cast is amazing 
So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

well, you do have a bit of the stage that you can't see if you're on the far side, but then you can see clear into the wings of the other side...

Do you really think it's a small theatre? I'd put it up there with the big theatres such as the Palace or the Winter Garden.

Posted: 6/20/05 at 1:40amI sat 4th row center front mezz for "Boy From Oz," and it was ideal.....most of the action in "DRS" happens on the left side of the stage if that helps at all.

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd get bashed for starting a new one...
Okay - just got tickets for DRS from the tkts booth. Rear mezz all the way on the side, row c. Really really bad or just sorta bad..or...hmm?

I'd go again and sit all the way in the back. I don't care. those seats are fine too...

Well, since this thread is here I thought I'd ask about my seats.
They are Right Orchestra, Row A, Seats 6-8 (2 seats off the aisle).
Are those actually the front row? Will I be straining my neck because they are so close?
I thought they would be great, with this cast, to see them very close up.

A is third row I believe. There's an AA and a BB, the AA is for lotto winners.

I finally saw DRS yesterday, and I'll return with a review Saturday when I don't have to pay 30 cents per minute to use the Internet. But in short... I loved it. This joins Ragtime, Chicago, Rent and The Last Five Years as a show I'd see as many times as I could.
My seats were (very rear) mezzanine on Wednesday night. I was fine with the view, but given my intense attraction to Norbert and the fact that he spends so much of this show flaunting his body (especially the stomach but also the chest, the legs and a buttcheek), I'll have to get a seat in the first few rows of orchestra next time.
Can't wait to see who's going to take over his role! I hope it's someone similarly short and stout.

Posted: 7/1/05 at 12:06amIf I may add my two cents here, from front row seating is great for the EXPERIENCE of "getting into the act", from a dancers point of view I would either sit at least g-m in the Orch. Or the front of the Mezz. for a "pattern" view of the production. With all of that said and done. Seats on the side sections on the aisle are fine.

Bumping this 12yo thread to begin discussions about CAROUSEL seating, since tickets go on sale tomorrow. Assuming they don't change things when they put the theatre back together from Comet, how high is the stage at the Imperial? Carousel will obviously be very dance heavy, this production especially, but I generally prefer being close enough to see actors' expressions in any show, even if that means missing some of the expansiveness of the choreography. Would the first few orchestra rows generally be a good pick? Thanks!

I saw Les Mis from 3rd row side orchestra and the stage was really high. I was not able to make out a lot of the staging, and the side seats were definitely partial view. I personally wouldn't go closer than 4th or 5th row. I think that's probably a great distance. Plus if you're able to score and aisle seat, that'd be great for views.

I sat front row (which was AA) for Les Mis many times and loved it. Never had any problems seeing anything.

Thanks Valentina and Eliza! I'll take both of your suggestions into account! When I get a chance, I usually go for an aisle seat in the first few rows of the center orchestra, as far back as I can go before hitting premium prices. Just wanted to make sure I could see! I'll report back tomorrow AM with my results!
