I didn't think Liza was eligible for anything this year...

I know that The Glass Menagerie was torn apart by the critics and generally disliked, but I thought that Sarah Paulson's performance as Laura was very strong. Granted that's the only play i've seen this season (That will all change on memorial day weekend when I see Virginia Woolf and The Pillowman) but I loved her in this role.

"This is what I trained to do, and this is what I love about theater. What I love about being an actress is being able to really look into myself and understand another human being. And out my own self, to shape and form and fashion a real human being--and to present that in such a way that people see something of themselves or their own understanding in that human being." --Phylicia Rashad

I'm a little surprised Denis O'Hare and Jesse Tyler Ferguson weren't on the ballot too.

I haven't seen "A Streetcar Named Desire," and I've wanted to, but I'm surprised at how few nominations it got. I wasn't a fan of Natasha in "Cabaret," assumed she won because of who she's the daughter and wife of, this just kind of confirms that for me...if she's as great as everyone makes her out to be, she'd of been nominated...at least, that's what i think.

Definitely Maureen McGovern. I'm actually in a little bit of denial over that one.

Frances Sternhagen and Lily Rabe from "Steel Magnolias"

CHRISTIAN BORLE.

Horrible shame. Thought he was much better than Curry (who seemed to be doing very little at all) and Azaria (who did not look very comfortable at all to me)...

I left the theatre thinking that Christian and Sara stole the show. But, that was in Chicago...not sure how it looks now.

I'm kind of surprised at the amount of people saying Jenn Gambatese. I think she was pretty good in ASU, but she doesn't do for that show what Cheyenne does - he has something she's just missing, adorable and talented as she is. Not that I necessarily saw Erin Dilly's performance as completely Tony nomination worthy either, but I wouldn't put that past Jenn, either. I mean, look at the performances being given by those nominees; there's no comparison, for the most part. ::Shrugs:: Just my two cents

It'sOnlyAPlay - You're probably right. Silly me - I read the category as a descriptive statement, rather than a group of meaningless capitalized words:

"Best performance by a leading actor in a musical..."

The TONY nominators didn't have any business remembering him except for his performance. Any other reason is inappropriate.
