whoa that sucks...i go to catholic school (and am the most awesome jewish person there!) and im going on a trip with them to Wicked. Im glad they arent those super religious freaky people. no offense if any of you are.
I don't think she's asking for handouts...that site actually sells stuff.
"This is what I trained to do, and this is what I love about theater. What I love about being an actress is being able to really look into myself and understand another human being. And out my own self, to shape and form and fashion a real human being--and to present that in such a way that people see something of themselves or their own understanding in that human being."

Just went to the site. It is a great idea. I am all for getting students into the theatre. I co-chair an organization at the Denver Center Theatre Company that as part of its mission is dedicated to getting underpriviledged African American students into the theatre. We make sure that they at least see on Shakespeare play. We provide a study guide for the shows. I and other members of the organization go to the theatre and meet the students before the show for lunch (Which we provide) and discuss the show with them at intermission and after the show. For shows that don't take place in the present time or even within the last 75 years, we ask them how they think the story would play out today. We have to go looking for sponsors for this and it's not always easy. So I can understand this post. maybe it came off as if she wanted donations specifically for her but it looks like she is asking for donations to this organization. I know I am not rich, but if I can save to buy tickets for a show and seeing that I am a huge theatre fan, I will look into buying one of their products knowing that my small contribution may help this young girl see Wicked or some other show someday!
Yeah...see...WE aren't super religious freaky...but our principle is pretty weird about stuff like this becuase he thinks we're all going to come back with "Ideas" and then burn down the school or something (which I have never understood seeing as his son is an amazing drummer and does pit for shows all over town)
You guys THIS IS A FUND-RAISER NOT DONATIONS . I am selling Harry London Chocolates by a place my school works with. They have this webiste to sell it at thats what I gave you all. I am sorry if I made people mad. Its december too cold for car washes and so on. Thank you to all the people that have helped.

To the girl who was talking about learning about the show. I have read the book and have gotten the cd before the school anounced we were to see it. (They were trying to get tickets to spam-o-lot?) The music is some of the best I have ever heared and I cannot wait to see Wicked on stage.
