You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

I think we're all missing the obvious here. Who else could play warm-hearted and still have a little bit of sex appeal. None other than DOLLY PARTON HERSELF! DOLLY CAN PLAY DOLLY!

How about Juliet Mills? Today on "Passions" she called herself "The Dark Sides Dolly Levi". She plays Tabitha, a witch on "Passions", hence the "dark side" reference. She was nominated for a Tony back in the sixties. Horace could be played by her real life husband, Max Caufield ("Grease 2") and maybe Hayley Mills could be the widow Molloy.

According to IBDB, she's been in three Broadway musicals -- Sarava, Cyrano and a Rodgers & Hart revue.

She sings. She actually has a cd out of a concert she did several years ago, where she says her first Broadway offer was as Bernadette Peter's understudy in MACK AND MABEL (she turned it down).

I think she'll be fine, but I sincerely doubt she was Papermills's first or even second choice for the role. She doesn't strike me as the type of star personality the theatre really needed to score right now to boost their huge sagging box office problem.

The Papermill's box-office problems are self-imposed. I vowed never to return after Ragtime and my (2.5 hour) schlep back to Manhattan. I've sent several missives regarding their lack of coordination with NJ Transit, promotion/discounts to the untapped NYC market, etc. I received polite 'we're working on it' responses. I won't return until these issues are addressed.
