The world is always a happier place when TWHM is playing on Broadway (besides, it keeps me off the streets on weekends!)

Other shows that closed prematurely:

DEAR WORLD
MACK AND MABEL
THE FULL MONTY

Oh I completely agree with everyone who mentioned Frank Wildhorn's Civil War! I saw the Broadway National Touring Company, and thought that it was amazing...Definitely an emotional piece of musical theatre!

Yes you did but my post would still be the same. Old age is not a pretty thing. Getting old - there's no future in it

For bashing The Civil War, critics should be placed in front of military firing squad - composed of cast members of TCW

Witches of Eastwick is one of those cds that I listen to all the time. It is a happy show that I enjoy. I love "Another Night at Darryl's" that Lucie Arnez sang.

I love you youre perfect Now Change.;D
On a real note, I think that Urban Cowboy might have closed a bit early, or gone through the Scarlet Pimp ordeals. And maybe Dance of the Vampire's opened to soon.

DOTV could have been saved if it had done a 'pimpernel'

Also Urban Cowboy, I heard was just not what the world wanted or needed right now, I guess. BUT I would have liked to have heard a cast recording.

I have to agree with DOTV. It closed way before it's time.

I thought it best when SEUSSICAL closed, but then when I saw the tour with the re-working of the show, I was astounded. I wish they would have brought the tour to Broadway, it was SO much better and would have been a success.

I know it was not a musical but I really enjoyed The Play What I Wrote. It had the audience and me in the aisle with laughter.
Don't get it.

I loved Zanna and agree it should have been around longer.
I heard that it might tour soon.

God, the headline on this thread is driving me crazy. Grammar police again, I know, but I flinch every time I look at it.

#44Witches of Eastwick? Not to me. What about Beautiful Game?
Posted: 10/22/03 at 11:03am

I'm fascinated by all the support given to Witches of Eastwick. To be fair, when I saw it, the original ladies were gone, except for J. Riding. But the score didn't land for me in the theatre. Seemed very faux Hamlisch and too ballad-driven. Reading all these posts, I'm tempted to buy the CD and give it a shot. Sometimes, our ears and hearts fail us, no? The night I saw it, the audience barely acknowledged it. But the same week I saw A.L.W's Beautiful Game, which I still think a much underappreciated piece. That CD I did buy. I think the internecine warfare vis a vis the Troubles in Ireland make it a hard sell in this country, but it's a very ambitious piece, and its one year only in London startled me. I think if anyone besides Andrew had written it, it might've been given more respect. And GAME admirers here? A couple of the songs go poignant exposure after 9/11.

Into the Woods! I was hoping it would run and they would keep getting big names to be The Witch. It could have been fun. I love that show with all my heart and the revival was spectacular (I preferred this production to the original, but the original cast was better). Why, oh why?!

YES! Into The Woods. I didn't get a chance to see it, but I definitely wanted to, because I loved the original on tape, and I liked the new recording. I was very upset when it closed. I think big names for the Witch could have been really, really fun.
