I remember last Thanksgiving my friend (and several other people) told me that Britney was supposed to replace Christina (Which would've been dreadful) and then next month the show suddenly closed? Was that true? I also remember hearing she was taking dance class so she could do it.

there was talk that she would, but it was never official.

thank goodness it didn't happen or the diva's lament in spamalot would have been a little too real.

Yes, she was supposed to do it, but she has her "tragic" knee accident while shooting one of her videos. I'm glad that she didn't, though, because she got knocked up, and a pregnant Charity would've been a little awkward.

She turned it down, and the show closed, instead of searching for a different celebrity to replace Christina.

I thought the official line from the Weisslers was that it was all set but her husband wouldn't move for it.

Smart Idea. Glad that they didn't try to replace Christina. However, I think that Sherie Renee Scott could've done a good job at it.

Ooo! I never thought of Sherrie, she would've been great. But they were looking for a celeb not a broadway star.

Wonder why Brooke Shields wasn't called in to save yet another Weissler show.

Brooke Sheilds as CHARITY?? I think not.

I think we should all brainstorm some idea of who could've played Charity. (too bad that they were a money hungry show. Sherie could've done a great job).

I think that if they REALLY needed it, Renee Zelweger (sp?) could've have given it a shot.

((OffTopic: I LOVE Nathan Lane. He has a sense for REAL comedy. I love him in the "Producers", but did you see him in "The man Who Came to Dinner"? Utterly fantastic. Words cannot describe.))

Do any of you guys think that it woul've lasted even WITH a big celebrity? I want other opinions, but I don't think that it woul've lasted.

OFF TOPIC:

broadwayxminixidina - Yes. I have seen Nathan in EVERYTHING he has ever done! Even a Vick's Nyquil (sp?) commercial! And a Alice in Wonderland special for TV in 1983....i've seen EVERYTHING.

Oh wow. Britney Spears would've been interesting, to say the least. Or, well, to say the most.

I mean, I certainly would've gone to see it. I like having stories to tell at dinner parties.

Well, i'd rather any show close than have Britney Spears in it.

I wouldn't, I'd probably have gone and seen it, that was one good ensemble of people. Too bad the choreographer muddled all the classic choreography, I would have loved to see the talented Corinne McFadden actually doing the REAL Frug

There was one girlwho stated "Wouldn't Paris Hilton be a great girl to play Christine in DRS if Sherie ever left?" I almost died. She wasn't being sarcastic either. Paris Hilton and Britney Spears would corrupt Broadway.

However, it would've been FANTASTIC to see how Nathan would respond to them being on Broadway. Almost makes me wish that they would go on. Then get shot.

P.S. I am a big Nathan fan also. Did you watch him on Ellen whenhe was promoting the movie of "The Producers"? I love when he started taklking on his cellular!

Thank God Britanny Spears didn't replace Christina. The day Spears gets on Broadway is the day Broadway dies.

They wanted Brittany Murphy to replace Applegate initially, and she was interested, but she bailed out to do a film (her people said the producers couldn't match what she would make for the movie, hence why she chose it over the show.)

From what I hear, Spears wanted her husband to be hired in addition to her (I assume as a dancer.) They met her monetary demands (which was 10% of the weekly gross in addition to a set salary I believe.) The plan was to move the show to the Hilton once she came on board, but in the end, she just decided it wasn't in her "best interest." Thank god.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Brittany Murphy would've been...good.

Britney Spears and Denis O'Hare a couple? Picture it.

broadwayxminixidina - Yes I did! Hilarious!

While a great talent, Snow would have never worked in the role of Charity. The character is supposed to be young but "over the hill." Snow doesn't really fit that description, just because of her age.
