I just bouth myself tickets for the non-equity production of TMM for the friday night performance at the NJPAC. Has anyone seen it? If so, how is it? Does it stay true to what was done on broadway? Are the performers talented? I got Orchestra Row G for a pretty good price. Hope its good! Comments are appreciated!
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...
I saw it maybe... 3 months ago? Well, around then. The sets are trimmed down, but that talent and magic are not lost. I loved it just as much as the original Broadway production. Have fun!

If this is the Theatre League's tour, I saw it. Same set and costumes from Bway. Very nice. Great talent.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

saw it last month , and was very impressed, they did a really outstanding job with it

I saw it about 3 weeks ago. Like katurian said the sets are very trimmed down. Basically the linkest link of the show. It's very good infact the girl playing Millie is from around where I live but i can't say if she was good or not because she was out when we saw it.
I am really excited. I hear that there is a pit of only 5 members though, is this true?

I just need to point out that I think that the girl playing Millie, Alex Ellis, isn't out of the show often. I think she has missed one or two shows. SO, do not fear that you'll miss her! And..she is NOT TO BE MISSED! An amazing, up and coming talent!
I always trust your advice Andrea! So if she is as awesome as you say, then I am excited!!!

Saw the show a few weeks ago, and it was High School quality. If I had not known the plot, I would have been lost. I could not understand what anyone was saying or singing. The cast seemed tired and uninspired. The girl playing Millie was sharp most of the time, and there was little spark between her and Jimmy. This is why non-eq shows are a waste, half hearted design and execution by the performers leave a sour taste in my mouth
Uh-oh mixed reviews! But I will give my full review after I see it!

I heard from a friend that her voice is terrific. So I am looking forward to her.

We had tickets for this when it came through KC. We had just returned from a theater trip in NYC and completely forgot that we had tix for this production. Feel really bad that we missed it as friends said that they enjoyed it.
It Was Very Bad I really like the show and have seen it 4 times, including the OBC and it just killed it for me I told my friend who also saw it. Don’t judge the show from this it is better trust me this is just shameful. So she listened to the OBC and loved it. But I would like to hear your thoughts on it.
Well, after June 9, I will let you all know how it was. The NJPAC is a huge theatre, with 4 tiers, so hopefully the¥ will be able to fill it up, and people will enjoy it. There is not much advertisement for it. Anyway, review will come after June 9. Thanks so much everyone!

I'm also curious as to how many professional non-eq shows you've seen. And what equity shows you've seen that you loved.
Huh? Not that I want to open the whole eq/non-eq debate, but having sat through plenty of mixed auditions, I can tell you there is very little difference in talent, at least among unknown actors. Actors who are prepared and professional are the ones who get hired, be they equity or not.
I have two friends in the chorus: Craig and Scot--harris thought the show was pretty good--god, you know I'm desperate when I turn to harris for back-up.....
My best friend is on this tour. And in fact the set and costumes are from the OBC and 1st national. We shouldn't knock non-eq tours. Most people on broadway started out on non-eq tours or the eq bus and truck tours of yesteryear. Non-union does not always mean bad quality.
I thought it was ok. The sets were really trimmed down (no Dorothy's room, turning table, etc.) and Millie was really nasally, but the rest of the cast was great.
I hear that the Mrs. Meers is terrific! My favorite character, so I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised!

is there two different tours going on at once? because I think me and bially082 saw the same show with tacky sets, and realy anoying subtiles in green and a bad Mrs. Meers, and everyone else is seeing something different?
