June 7 - The Tony Awards (Kind of freaking out about this one)
I have room for 1 more show on Sunday, before the Tonys, and Im having trouble making that decision. Shows that have peaked my interest: An American in Paris, The Visit, Aladdin, It Shoulda Been You, Matilda, and Finding Neverland.
I'm open to any of the shows I listed...I just need some help choosing, so figured yall could help me do that! I figured this would be the place to do that! Thanks!
(On a side note, any info on ACTUALLY attending the Tonys?)
I would recommend, from your list, An American in Paris or maybe The Visit, just so you know what the fuss is about when you go to the Tonys. Also consider Fun Home. It's gotten a million nominations for a reason.
Maybe we'll see each other that evening? I'm headed to the Tonys too – equally as excited :) All I know about it is it's definitely black tie. Like, for real black tie.
YES! I really wanted to see Fun Home, but it wasn't performing on June 7. Neither are the other two shows that I have tickets for. I don't think I'm willing to give up Kristin or Helen.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I attended the Tonys in 2013! Here's what I remember:
- You are able to use the restroom during commercial breaks.
- They give you a free booklet/program with information about the nominated shows.
- The ceremony is LONG (4 hours?.) Bring a water bottle with you and make sure you eat before/after. I remember being quite hungry and thirsty.
- Definitely dress black tie.
You'll have a great time! It's a lot of fun!
