Profile: My name is Roman Castillo Jr. I live in Austin, Texas, a relatively liberal community. I am a big fan of Chicago the Musical. I have seen the show 35 times (the first one being on St. Patrick's Day 2011) and one concert version in 2019 in Dallas. When I first visited NYC in 2006, I really didn't give Chicago much of a thought. Once I saw it on March 17, 2011, I was hooked. At the stage door, I met Ryan Lowe, Jason Patrick Sands and Leigh Zimmerman (Velma Kelly). Over the years, I have met many of the Chicago cast members at the stage door: Bianca Marroquin, Terra C, Dylis Croman, Jennifer Fouche and so many others. I got a chance to visit backstage at the Ambassador Theatre due to the kindness of Jason Patrick Sands. I had a chance to meet Charlotte D'Amboise inside the theatre as well. I have often wondered if the cast members are aware of this thread about the show. When I see Chicago, I always try to get a seat on the first row. I have met several Broadway legends over the years: Angela Lansbury and Marian Seldes (2007), Chita Rivera (2015) and also Judith Light. I love New York City and Broadway.

This will be over in another few weeks before another dance routine goes viral."  How would you know?  I meant they aspire to become Chicago

I have noticed on social media that there are quite a few reels of aspiring Chicago dancers performing "The Gun".  They're really quite talented.https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-ncf8-R7i0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

It's kind of odd that the next Velma hasn't been announced as of yet.  Is Lana Gordon still with the Hadestown tour?

I was noticing on social media (IG) that some commenters were complaining how the casting of the Colombian singer as Billy Flynn is an example of stunt casting at the expense of trained professional theatre people.  Those people are blithely ignorant of the fact that Chicago's use of "unconventional casting" is a major reason that the show has been running since 1996.  While some of the choices have been dubious (Elvis Stojko anyone), most of the casting has been succe

That casting is announced, but we still don't know who the next Velma and Amos will be starting September 16.

*Max Von Essen extended through Nov. 24.

We sometimes hear about a principal player in a  musical being unable to continue mid-show and be replaced by an understudy/standby, etc.  To what extent has that happened with "Chicago"?  Does anyone have any instances where a Billy Flynn, Roxie or Velma was unable to complete a show?

ACL2006 said: "Max Clayton got called in today to play Billy Flynn as Max Von Essen is out with COVID. Max Clayton will be Billy through Tuesday."  Does this mean that both Jeff Gorti and Barrett Martin (both Billy Flynn understudies) were not available for some reason?

Telecharge has some interesting casting information.  Charlotte D'Amboise current run is until July 31 and then returns from Sept. 2 --Sept. 15.  Natasha Williams is with the show until Aug. 25, but Jennifer Fouche has a brief run from July 25-July 29.  And lastly,  Amra Faye Wright makes a return as Velma Kelly from July 29--August 5.  Thoughts  ACL?

lol the pervy broadway forums! im missing out on so much imaginary stuff.

but AGAIN it is so insanely offensive to reduce what is without a doubt one of the most cleverly staged fight scenes on stage that many of us have ever seen into a gay gawking situation. its hard to get angry or offended because you are obviously incapable of understanding how disgusting you are but its wild that EVEN WITH a fulltime BWW intern whose job it is to remove your most explicitly offensive stuff, your bigotry manages to slip through.

(and i thought suffs was clever/fun/moving in all the ways Outsiders are not, i dont think its so nuts to prefer one over the other)
