Honestly I’d love to see some major “names” Jonathan Bailey or TImothee Chalamet or Cheyenne Jackson … if this doesn’t turn out to be a pretty bankable event, even if it was full of Broadway bankable names. I’m not too terribly interested in the mounting.

Meanwhile, if you're curious and on the East Coast, Pittsburgh CLO is running a "back to basics" staging of The Rocky Horror Show. Other than a few major changes like the inversion of Time Warp and Sweet Transvestite that are universal now, the show is presented as a partial restaging of the original UK premiere and tour concept, without significant influence from the film, the Broadway and Roxy productions, or anything else. It's even down to a four-piece band again.

This is exactly why I don’t understand when people suggest casting ideas like Jennifer or the rumored Timothee Chalamet…I feel like casting an assuming straight cisgender person would be immediately panned

it's a bit messy to get into what transvestite meant because a lot of these terms were used in so many different ways - some people who used that term were cis and crossdressing and others were trans. i'd def think right now is not the time to cast a cis person in that role, especially on a broadway stage

I feel if you cast someone Trans as Frank you have to do it subversively otherwise you're left with that middle school film they made for Fox some years ago. A cast good in theory, but in motion was a train wreck.

Because handing over a role to another cis straight (probably white) boy is boring. Chalamet in particular has the sex appeal of a noodle.

Yeah, I don’t know why it would even matter if the guy is white, cisgender, male. If they deliver on the role. Cheyenne Jackson I would see regardless if the role was straight or not. I guess I don’t really care about much of anything off stage. If they deliver on stage.

In his CBS Sunday Morning interview this past weekend, Tim Curry says his advice to pending Franks is to ""forget the word “camp”, because he's a guy…and he prides himself on being able to f*ck anybody"".

We had a very straight white male in Australia who was before the court for molesting[never proved] a fellow female On Stage. Been banished for years now.

I'm confused. Audience participation is a MAJOR part of this show. Every performance. The audience is as much a part of the production as anything else, or at least it needs to be in order to have a successful production. What worries me is that in the enormous Studio 54, how do they successfully accomplish that?
