It’s called nuance. There is a HUGE difference between someone’s actions being of their own volition and actions that are influenced by psychiatric or substance abuse issues.

I’ve been punched in the face at work by many patients. I am more forgiving of those who lack the faculties to have control over their actions (chronic illness, withdrawal) over those who are looking to flex and assert themselves and know exactly what they are doing.

The behavior is still not appropriate regardless, but where it comes from affects how you respond to it it.

John-Michael Lyles joins the Broadway company as Orpheus on June 16.

Before that, understudies Jeffrey Cornelius and Brandon Cameron will play the role from June 2-14.

Was Joshua always scheduled for a 3-month run or is he leaving early?

Is he okay?

Starting July 21, Kelly Belarmino, KC Dela Cruz, and Khori Michelle Petinaud will be the new Fates.

Starting September 1 in the Broadway company:

• Norbert Leo Butz as Hermes
• Jasmin Savoy Brown as Eurydice
• Kayko as Orpheus
• Geno Segers as Hades

I'm guessing John-Michael Lyles was brought in with the understanding that it would always be a limited run this go-around. If Joshua Colley was originally slated to be with the show through the end of August, then Lyles is essentially finishing up that contract. It would be great if he was invited back in the future.

I'll never understand how transphobic comments, when set in the realm of female sports, is somehow acceptable. Even politics give it a pass, or a, "Well, this is a larger conversation..." No, it's transphobic, full stop.

The Distinctive Baritone said: "The social media backlash against Geno Segers is pretty bad. If this continues, I can see the team buying him out of his contract and bringing in someone else. People are furious about those old YouTube videos."

It would likely have to be a former Hades if they decide to buy him out. Or just bump up one of the understudies. I'd love to see Eddie Noel Rodriguez back in the show.
