Let's face it: the best cast this show had was the original. PERIOD! I feel sad that the continued stunt casting will eventually lead to the show closing. Hey, 5 years ain't that bad though but I would hate to see this show go.
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

Moulin Rouge needs a stronger Christian. Casey's acting is pretty good but his singing is too weak so that I started to think about something else when he sings, even though Moulin Rouge is my favorite musical. I have seen no one say this yet, but I think the next Christian has to be Colton Ryan. He fits the character and his singing will blow off the roof.

God, my brain is broken. I thought you meant Conor Ryan from the tour. Honestly, given how little Colton meant to the NY NY box office, they might as well bring in Conor and stunt cast the other roles.

I’m pretty sure there are a flurry of talented POC actors who could do the role justice. It doesn’t need to be the plain white matinee idol-esque tenor.
Off the top of my head some possibilities: Austin Scott, Matt Manuel, Jelani Alladin, and Cameron Loyal (who would also be a great Duke) all have soaring voices and could EASILY be a good romantic lead. Hell, even Justin Guarini could probably pull it off too if ONCE UPON… was any indicator of his level of performance.

I love Boy George, I do, but I really can't imagine him having the physical or verbal stamina to do this 8 times a week. He barely could muster if to show up to Taboo, and he basically just had to stand there and sing a few songs.

I strongly disagree. I recently saw him live at the Hollywood Bowl and he sounded fantastic - and way too much ad-libbing for it to be a lipsynched. And because his run in Moulin Rouge will be relatively short, you can bet he will put everything he has into it. Taboo was 20+ years ago, and he was in a totally different head space. I think he is going to be fantastic!!
