Yesterday I took my father and brother to see MATILDA on Broadway. We all enjoyed it very much especially the talented and adorable Bailey Ryon as Matilda. I think little Bailey is just amazing, the perfect Matilda in every way. At intermission I asked my father, "Bailey is cute, right?" He laughed and said, "Yeah, but what's up with her hair? Colin explained that Matilda has to have bad hair to show that her parents don't care about her. Is he right? What do other people think about Matilda's unusual hair? It doesn't seem to be a wig either...just Bailey's real hair tied in knots or something....
There is nothing to discuss. Whomever Colin is is correct.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
But Annie's red hair comes from the borderline-emblematic source material; the hairstyle in the Americanized Matilda movie doesn't. Many of the characters in the musical are pretty faithful representations of Quentin Blake's drawings.
