Olivia is a terrific chice for Donna. I saw her recently at the Nokia Theatre and she was amazing. She hit ALL the notes in Xanadu. I hope she gets a shot.
im still in shock that this is happening!!! not sure what i think about it yet.... ONJ woudl be great for donna though. also someone once said the mother from 7th heaven has a great voice. that just came to mind. i hope they only cast a few names and leave the rest of it to te unknown talent of the world!!!!
If ever there were a musical movie that should NOT use unknowns its this one. Hell, I even want a cameo from Anthony Quinn's coffin in the church scene.
For this movie to be completely successful, they have to go off the deep end, and just make it FUN. Its going to get panned by the critics, so don't even bother with trying to please them. Make it fun!
I'd love to see an Olivia Newton John/John Travolta reunion here.
I think one of the important things is for the people to be the right age. As much as I love 1st WIVES CLUB, those ladies are too old now.
I am glad so many other people agree about ONJ as Donna. I was wondering, maybe Jennifer Saunders as Rosie? She may be too old at this time as well, but she'd be so funny.
Maybe Rick Springfield instead of David Cassidy?
And I really think Kristin Bell looks like she could be Olivia's daughter. And she can sing! (Plus I am obsessed with my VERONICA MARS season 1 dvds).
Bad Jazz Singing- The Agony of Defeatism, The Thrill of It All
Well, it's not exactly a realistic show, I don't think its all that important that the women are the "right" age - I mean I don't know if they even say in the script how old the women are. Louise Pitre's silver hair definitely made her look like she was in her 50s.
Plus Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler have had so much work done, they look younger now than they did in 1976.
P.S == Olivia Newton John was born in 1948 which makes her roughly three years younger than Keaton, Hawn and Midler who were all born 1945-46. If they are too old, then so is Newton-John...
I think Diane Keaton looks like what she is -- a 60-year-old woman. Bette and Goldie are entirely different stories.
Sign me up for Olivia Newton-John. But regardless, I think Tom Hanks at least has demonstrated a flair for creative casting: look at that stupid Greek wedding movie -- they didn't bring in big "current" names for that and it made eight million billion dollars.
Hm...Scott Bakula could work. I have a few songs from when he sang on "Quantum Leap" and he was good.
hehe. Rick Springfield instead of David? I could live with that. :)

SueSnell, I agree, If they were to get Olivia I would LOVE to see Kristen Bell as Sophie. She can sure sing, I was impressed by the Reefer Madness movie.
"Dont look at me that way
Your ears and your eyes
Got used to the lies
But you're getting the truth today"
"Ah the city. So many lights you can actually pretend one of them is shining on you."
CLIFF: "There was a cabaret and there was a master of ceremonies and there was a city called Berlin in a country called Germany - and it was the end of the world and I was dancing with Sally Bowles - and we were both fast asleep"
Well, she looks like an old hippie - hey she IS an old hippie - same as Donna - I don't think she's too old to do the role, but, truly, I don't think this is something she'd really be that interested in anyway.
While watching the show in Toronto a while back, i thought about a movie version, I would like Joan Cusack as Rose, Meryl Streep as Tanya and Goldie Hawn as DOnna
