There is a semi-bare stage, some lighting, a few props, inventiveness, intelligence, humor, accessible language, good acting, an engaging story, breath-taking stagecraft and a glorious chorus.
It's a down-right good time. It's why one goes to the theatre.
While I agree, it appears the critics must have seen a different Coram Boy. The other explanation is that many times they are clueless. This is one reason I love the song about them in Curtains
Well, Barnes (aka "senor clueless") totally missed the boat on this one ! I am still convinced that he never actually saw the show- His "review" was beyond pitiful for anyone over the age of 10 !!
Hate the show, fine.... but the words "Coram Man" were never even mentioned in his review, nor were any of the performers, except for Maxwell (because she was known, most likely)
Elbrick deserved a mention in EVERY review. She is great !!
It is excellent!!!!!! There really is nothing else like it out there!!!!!
(And yes, people who read my blogs are going to be sick of it by next Sunday. :) I intend to make my same post with a scan of the playbill every single day!)
(And I've changed my user pic. For now anyway.)

LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
Saw this show last night and I thought it was fantastic and utterly flawless. I am probably going to go back again on Wednesday to do my part in keeping it alive.
They've already started refunding tickets, so it's not looking too good for you guys.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

WHy does it keep getting snubbed for best Play/best director?

I'll probably be there around 10, too, maybe earlier - I arrive in the city the night before, it's my only chance to see it! See you there hopefully. :)
