uhhh... NO!!! But Im not worried, on broadway you have to have talent and she doesnt, so no one will hire her

Hey now, Jessica Simpson CAN ACTUALLY SING, she does have a nice legit voice. Now, I have no idea about her range or anything like that, but SHE CAN SING. True, she owns this "revival" in her career all to that TV reality show, but she CAN sing.......It's her sister who can't, but that is another story.
Glinda would probably be a good role for her. She's got the whole blonde thing going for her and could easily play into that persona. I don't know if she could have the upper notes in opening number, but I'm sure they wouldn't just be awful.
I'm also sure she could handle herself just fine as Roxie Hart in Chicago, even though she may be a bit young compared to most of the other Roxies.
And ofcourse as I mentioned in an earlier post there is Val from A Chorus Line, although it is not a lead, but for sure one of the better girl parts(or any part)in the musical.
Jessica Simpson can't sing. She moans. Tell me you agree?
"You won't fight without layers of armor
Suit on up and come brace my sword
You look back when the pieces are missing
Hollowed out hope that no time can restore."
Maybe, I can't say that I've ever listened to her Pop stuff, so I can't comment on that, but you're probably right.
I have listened to her sing on her Christmas Specials and stuff like that and her voice was nice. I've also heard her sing "The Music and The Mirror" from when she did A Chorus Line in HS and, to me, it was first rate. I'm not necessarily a fan of her, I'm just saying what I think.
However, if she does moan, it's better than SCREAMING as her sister does! I am not a fan of Ashlee Simpson at all, but rather quite the opposite!
IveGottaBeMe: "She'd be fine as Maureen in RENT" AAAHHHHHHHHHHH NO!!!!!! Death to me, and major insult to Idina

Don't hate me, but I actually *like* her, and don't think she's as horrible as people make her out to be.
I always thought she'd have been a wonderful Amneris in Aida, but alas, that would never happen. If Aida was still running, however, and she expressed an interest, I'm sure Disney would have cast her in a heartbeat.
I actually think Jessica can sing and act....you've got to remember were basing her off of her brains and you guys act like ditzy people aren't already on Broadway. But I believe the way she acts is really for show.
Before she was famous she was doing Theatre back in High School....so I'm almost sure she's got something in her.
For you're consideration- this is the women who couldnt tell the difference between chicken and tuna, maybe she thinks Broadway is like another planet or something people do when they dont have a record, a movie or anything else better to do.

"no i am saying she probably got her recording deal with a major record company becuz she married Mottola. "
You might want to check your facts as Mariah signed her record deal in teh fall of 1988, their relationship began in 1991 and got married to him in 1993.
Jessica Simpson? No, i don't think so, her voice is really kida thin especialy with out digital help. She also can't act her way out of a paper bag. If any pop artist were to make it on the great white way I think it would be Christina Agulera, she does have the voice for it, but even with her I'm not sure how well her acting would go. In general successful pop-artists don't make great broadway stars.
No way in hell can Jessica act. I think i could see her as maybe a Glinda??? No i dont think that yould work. But I mean she could probably get something together.... And maybe Mandy Moore which someone had said earlier..ehh. I know she can sing but I have never heard her live.

Vocally... it's not as if Jessica Simpson would EVER be able to sing Glinda.
or anything on Broadway for that matter.
Can you imagine having her attempt to sing a show 8 times a week? It would be horrific. I think she is a nothing with a voice that once was decent, to say the best. She is not talented, and she most certainly can't act. Ask anyone that saw Dukes of Hazzard and honestly ask them if they went to see the movie because of Jessica's amazing acting ability... no, it was because she was half-naked throughout the entire movie. And still, her acting was bad.
If you ask me, it will be a sad day when certain pop singers... (I'm not saying all, but a large majority in my opinion) come to Broadway and think they can actually do anything decent onstage. Mariah Carey, Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson, ect are all talentless to me... and I would hate to see any of them disgrace the Broadway stage. I am not saying that there haven't been people on Broadway that I disagree with, but I hope that particular pop star line is NEVER crossed.
why couldnt she be maureen? so many ppl on broadway play maureen as ditzy. and jessica's vocals are just as good as them. she just needs to stop doing the nasal, breathy **** she started. she did not sing like that at the beginning of her career
