....either Riedel is displaying wishful thinking or he knows something we don;t.
"And Donna Murphy blew her chances for the Tony when she missed more than a third of the performances of "Wonderful Town" two years ago - though I must add that Murphy's back in my good graces after her magnificent turn as Phyllis in "Follies" at Encores! in February. When that revival moves to Broadway in the fall, she can show up for work once a week and still get my Tony vote."
That's interesting. What's also interesting is Riedel's ruminations earlier in the article about Christine Ebersole and her Tony chances being possibly compromised by her starting to miss performances on a regular basis.
But I digress. If it's true about FOLLIES this place is gonna go nuts! And appropriately!
ETA: I wonder if that has anything to do with Clark's new blonde do? Although if the rumor about the fall is true, it's too early for her to color her hair, so maybe not. But I wonder...
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
Yeah, and I bet Donna Murphy knows what he can do with his good graces.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I think the chances of another FOLLIES revival are very slim...The Roundabout production did not do well... they tried to do it on the cheap...FOLLIES is a huge show and the production values are huge...as much as I love it! I did the Paper Mill production, and they spent a fortune on it. It is a fantastic show, but I don't think it is a commercial venture. I don't like saying this, but, sadly, I believe it is true.
The design for Encore's Follies, I think, worked quite well. There was some color in Loveland.
I thought worked fine for a concert, but I think an actual revival demands an actual set and costume. All these women showing up to a reunion and not one of them wearing something but black? What do I know, though? I'm one of the five people who didn't care for the Chicago revival.

I doubt it's Pirate Queen, the Hilton is not a good fit for especially this production of Follies.
Company would be my #1 guess. The Barrymore would be a nice fit.
I'm guessing Grey Gardens to be the other at the Walter Kerr. Company's doing worse though.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
Yes, lets revive FOLLIES in the fall when all momentum from the Encores production is lost and we can simply focus on the fact that it will be a bare bones concert version charging 125 dollars a ticket!
But honestly I can see Grey picking up business after some Tony wins. And as much as I love Company, I think they'll keep it open until Tony time - and I'll be shocked if it makes it to Fall.
Edit - MB. If I'm correct you didn't see the production. There was actually quite a lot for a concert production. I just think it would need more set if it transfered. Plus the Weisslers charge $110 for a bare bones all black concert production of Chicago. Why not for Follies?

Thesb, if you know or are permitted to say, how much of the Encore cast would be transferring with the production to Bway?
MB, how is the last point you mentioned (bare bones and price) any different from the current Chicago revival?

I mean, right now, getting the money is what they are focusing on (and that might not go through), but I believe that the 4 "main" actors have agreed that if it were to happen, they would do it.
Grey Gardens isn't doing TOO badly for a show that isn't a brand name. Once it wins a few awards come Tony time, I'm sure it will pick up momentum. Company on the other hand...well, let's hope the right show originally choreographed by Michael Bennett wins best revival. If it does lose and does close, Follies would be a nice fit. Hopefully Worley will leave Drowsy for this, (Please Ms. Worley. You were incredible) Carlotta will be recast and we'll see another Tony in Victoria Clark's hands. Updated On: 4/6/07 at 01:37 PM
