So, I'm a bit of an Aaron Tveit addict, and I have been listening to NEXT TO NORMAL a lot lately. Which is your favorite piece? I'm conflicted between "I Am the One" and "A Light In the Dark"...
My biggest pet peeve right now is when people pronounce it "Marry-us" and not "Mah-ree-us".
So Anyway (I actually prefer Pearl Sun's rendition) and Hey #3/Perfect For You, But I think the entire OCBR (except for Lights, bit too cheesy for me) is perfection and I listen to it whenever I need something to sooth my anguished soul
"So Anyway (I actually prefer Pearl Sun's rendition)"
Yes I kind of did too because she could sing it quite well. I have never seen an actor struggle to sing a song more than Alice Ripley singing "So Anyway" at the end of the N2N tour. However, and I know it's a cop-out - there was something so desperate, pathetic and raw about Alice Ripley's "So Anyway" at the end of the tour that it has stuck in my memory a lot longer than Pearl Sun's.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
I like the one that goes la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la.

“I hesitate to give this line of discussion the validation it so desperately craves by perpetuating it, but the light from logic is getting further and further away with your every successive post.” <<>>

I think I like "Just Another Day" and "Didn't I See This Movie" the best. I also really like the way "Who's Crazy?/My Psychopharmacologist And I" way staged.
