I got extreme side orchestra during the onsale, but then they rezoned the seats and it got removed, so they moved me to Center Orchestra A 101! Here now, will report after.

It appears that, other than me and a scattered few, the audience is primarily between 60 and 6 Feet Under

I was at the same performance, sitting 10 rows behind you. I agree with everything in your review. It was an enjoyable 90 minutes, but nothing special. Kelli and Rose were fun but Tracee Chimo as the maid stole the show.

When Consuelos comes in, he definitely knows how to play the mysterious lover with panache, but it amounts to little more than an extended cameo in the last 10-ish minutes (though it creates some hilarious reactions from the leading ladies). I can also forgive his general European accent since the ladies say he’s “cosmopolitan” and also “I hope he’s worked on his English” - so that was a clever out written by Coward.

The set is indeed gorgeous, especially up close when you can see the finer details. But overall, the direction feels a bit wandering and aimless. It feels more languid than a Coward comedy should. I hope they tighten the pace a bit, but I think that’s probably the best they can do.

I didn’t hate this by any means and it was a pleasurable 90 minutes, but it’s not at the top of the list of things I’d recommend to my friends unless they can get a cheap ticket and want something that isn’t mentally taxing.In terms of awards, I’d like to think Chimo has the best chance of getting in. With Byrne and O’Hara above the title and stacked against Manville, Metcalf (LBRR), Coon,and Flood, in the mix, it might be a one or the other situation

Stage Door:Everyone except Mandavi. It reminded me of the old days at the non-profits on Broadway where the crowds were much smaller (regardless of the star). Everyone was quite nice."

I saw the revival at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London with Janie Dee in the beginning of 2026. It's a nice little play but it was uncut and ran about 2H 15M. So this is a REALLY trimmed version which honestly I thought it could've used. I'll be curious to see what they cut.

I’m curious if they’ve done serious work since the last posts in this thread because i thought this was a riot. People in the audience tonight were almost screaming with laughter. I’ve never seen Kelli do this kind of physical comedy before and I want her to do so much more of it. Rose was such a natural onstage and again, just start to finish absolutely hilarious.

I wish I had seen it a few weeks ago to see if I just found this a hell of a lot funnier than others or if there’s been a significant amount of work done.

I saw it a few weeks ago (I think the third preview) and I had a great time and the response of the rest of audience suggested they did too. The play is probably more interesting for its historicity but boy the physical comedy was just so good. It is really hard to portray drunkenness for a sustained period but O’Hara and Byrne were great. I assume it has only gotten better since then.

Feels like we have 4 locks (Manville, Coon, Flood and Metcalf) and one slot for a running production and it's between Ayo, Kelli and Rose.

This was a HUGE takeaway for me. They both managed to do that thing drunk people do where they try to stand still but are always swaying slightly or moving a bit. It was brilliant.

I truly cannot wait to watch the filmed version next week. I am still cackling at some of the things these two brilliant women did on that stage lol

I’ve been trying to get into this show for weeks now, glad to have an opportunity to see it, albeit not in person.

Might this be the biggest hit Roundabout has had in years? I presume an extension is out of the question, alas.

Creative hit or financial fit? Financially speaking, hard to tell given nonprofit finances, and this was probably an expensive play. They're selling out but not at a huge average price (avg price gets lowered due to subscribers). The Danny DeVito play I NEED THAT did equal-or-greater business three years ago.

ROCKY HORROR will probably end up being their most lucrative self-produced show since...I don't know what, ANYTHING GOES? I bet THE HUMANS made them a tidy sum also, given that they premiered and commissioned it and it got an extended commercial run, a tour, a feature film, and now a bazillion regional productions each year.

Rental income from JULIET may be keeping the lights on over there. They no longer classify outside productions as "Rental Property Income" on their 990 so it's hard to tell.

I saw the production over the weekend and found it quite entertaining and I laughed out loud several times at the physical comedy. I was very impressed with Kelli O’Hara for I had no idea she had such sharp comedic skills. The set and costumes were top notch. I adore Rose Byrne but I had a difficult time understanding her. And as her character became more intoxicated she sounded like she was chewing on marbles. She desperately needed a stage acting coach to work with her on her diction. I was sitting up in the mezzanine house left, and the view was perfectly fine. But when actors would turn the opposite direction from me and speak, they were harder to understand and I couldn’t quite figure out why because they were miked. I shall call it the Vivian Beaumont syndrome because the exact same thing seems to happen there. I sat the same distance from The Balusters stage ant MTC and I heard and understood every word. I also think given that the style of the play is farcical the actors could’ve cheated out more during conversations because the characters all had a dramatic flare to them. The women’s hairstyles tended to cover their faces rather easily so it seemed like another reason to do so.
I understood the men just fine. I think a better actor would’ve done more with the character that Mark Consuelos portrayed. I get the stunt casting but he wasn’t handling the subtext very well.
