I'm trying to make a list of empowering 'I can' type songs. And that sort of thing. I'm thinking 'This Is The Moment' for J+H and 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked. Obviously these are fairly obvious but I'm having a stupid day and I can't think of many others. I'm hoping that you'll be able to suggest some more. Old or new shows, anything suggestion is useful!
Thanks!

Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

"Everything's Coming Up Roses" is sort of a twist on this theme. And "Pirate Jenny" would be an even more macabre twist.
Probably more what you're looking for: "Don't Rain on My Parade" "Gimme Gimme" (from Millie) "Go, go, go Joseph" "My own best friend" (Chicago) "Some people" (Gypsy) "Into the fire" (Scarlet Pimpernel) eta: "I'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair" "Open a new window" (or almost anything from Mame) "I am what I am" "Bring me my bride" (from Forum)

I'm tempted to say "Rose's Turn," but that's probably darker than what you're looking for. "King of the World" and "Christmas Lullaby" from Songs for a New World might be appropriate, though.

"This Is Not Over Yet" from Parade is another. Nice duet between Lucille and Frank.
