I found the old thread but decided not to bump it since it was two years old and ten pages long.

I was listening to I Wish I Could Go Back to College from Avenue Q a few days ago and finally heard something that now drives me crazy everytime I hear the song. At the beginning, when Princeton comes in, you can hear a guitar string "talk" (the metalic squeaking sound that happens when you run your finger across the fretboard) right after he says "you know WHO..."

So lets share those small technical (and vocal) f'ups that you wouldn't notice at first, but once you do, it's the only thing you hear Cast Recording Flubs

Here's a few of my favs:
Along Came Bialy on the OBC. Around the line "so romantic, they were frantic" a second track of Lane singing is badly layered on top of the first vocal track
In Old Bavaria on the OBC. You might have to wear headphones for this one. At the very end of the song, if you crank up your volume, you can hear Mel Brooks in the booth praising "it was funny!"

and of course who could forget
"I should tell you, I should tell you, I have always love you..." Pascal Fail

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

In the recording for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee", in the song "The Last Goodbye" all the way in the end you can hear somebody saying "How do you turn this off" referring to the microphone

In the 2005 Sweeney Todd cast recording, in 'Kiss Me 2' at exactly 1:00, there is this ugly cough.

"I have always love you" cracks me up EVERY TIME.

In Finale B, after "Oh my god", you can hear a little giggle.

Also in the recording for Thoroughly Modern Millie, Between Not For the Life of Me and the titled song. I hate that they broke them up into two different tracks because it now doesn't flow in together.

I always assumed that giggle (which comes from Idina) was intentional. She's shocked by this turn of events and finds it all so cliche, "white light at the end of the tunnel where she meets a dead loved one"

and that cough in Kiss Me is Benjamin (Anthony) scoffing at the realization that the love of his life hasn't heard his name yet.

in the SPRING AWAKENING recording, in "the bitch of living" during the part that john gallagher sings "gettin outta bed" towards the end.. you can hear him let out a raspberry spit thing on the word bed.. so it sounds like "getting outta psssp-bed"

It is intentional. A lot of people just like to pretend that it's not so that they have something to add to these threads.

I'd read it on another site once, so I assumed it was unintentional. No need to make judgements.

This isn't a flub, it's more of a misheard lyric... but in 'Out Tonight', when Daphne says "And All The Scars From the Nevers and Maybes...DIE!!!:, it REALLY sounds like she's saying "And All The Scars of the Neverson Babies...DIE!!!"

That's not a cast recording flub. That's an obsessed fan flub. There were entire websites devoted to finding out who the Neverson Babies where.

Yeah, can we just keep this to technical glitches, hushed whispers, miniscule orchestral/chorus/line bloopers and such? Just the little things that most people wouldn't catch. There are already threads about misheard lyrics and deciphering things like coughs and giggles that aren't meant to be hidden, and they're not as fun as the unintentional little mistakes that sometimes go unnoticed in my opinion.

For instance, on the OBC of A Chorus Line you can hear a girl whispering "Switch with me" and the sound of ruffling clothes the second the finale starts.

In the London recording of Into the Woods, near the end of the title track, under the line "Into the woods to get the thing that makes it worth the journeying", someone sings "Into the woods, I don't care how --" and then drops out.

Do the mad voice cracks in "If Momma Was Married" on the Tyne Daly GYPSY recording count?

In the '94 Carousel, during the introduction to "IF I Loved You", Sally Murphy sings "But somehow I can see; Just exactly how I'd be." During that lyric, the percussionist drops one of his sticks.

"Sing the words, Patti!!!!" Stephen Sondheim to Patti LuPone.

Well there is of course the major flub of allowing Tyne Daly to play Rose to go with the cracks in "If Momma Was Married"

On the symphonic recording of Miss Saigon during I'd Give My Life For You at 3:38, just before the chorus starts chanting "No place, no hope..." you can clearly hear somebody come in a full measure before the chorus starts singing.

In 13, the Musical; in the opening number at 1:31 you can hear the actor singing "I" a little bit earlier than "I want a dirt bike"

In the 1957 Cast Recording of West Side Story in Track 16 - Finale, from 1:04-1:06 SOMEONE is turning their music quite noticeably. I like to tell myself it's Br. Bernstein, but it probably is not.

It's fun :)

On the OBCR of Jane Eyre after Marla finishes "Sweet Liberty" at the music stops, you can hear people talking.

James885... um how loud does the recording have to be because I don't hear that mistake...

oh and not a mistake... but does anyone know why Adam Pascal sings "gone to mow" instead of "gone tomorrow" on the AIDA recording... good jeebus that bugs the crap out of me almost to the point where i don't even listen to that track at times (even though I like the song) or i just skip it right when it gets to the end... surely someone had to have told him that he's f*cking up that word!!! haha... i've seen clips of him singing it and he STILL does it... aaarggh

I'm curious to know if anyone else hears the little orchestral... something exactly 57 seconds into "Gee, Officer Krupke" on the new West Side Story cast recording. It sounds like some sort of technical glitch or an instrument doing something weird. It's most noticeable using headphones on the right side. I don't hear it on the left.
