How long did Sunset Boulevard even run for in Melbourne again? All I can recall was it was more disaster riddled then MacBeth being performed in Bagdad.
The Boy From OZ defies high ticket prices and sets box office records Monday, February 27, 10:54pm
Despite an A Reserve ticket price that stands at $249, the new arena production of The Boy From Oz has broken box office records, with 100,000 tickets sold during the show's first day on sale.
****************************************
The two most popular price ranges for this show seems to be the A$ 199-A$ 249 range ( a couple of performances in this price ranges have sold out hence, based on info on ticket availability on Ticketmaster.au.com). Based on the simple average between the two, that would be approximately A$199 per ticket. For 100,000, that would translate to A$20.0 million ( approx US $ 15 million) for the first day of regular sale ( although I suspect this figure includes the 3 day presale period earlier).
Still, that would seem to beat the first day record of THE ODD COUPLE and THREE DAYS OF RAIN on Broadway, of approx US $ 7 million each, doesn't it?
