Did a quick search, couldn't find anyone posting about this yet. I walked by the Booth theater yesterday to find them ripping out the seats and throwing them in a trash compactor..
Looks like the theater is getting a renovation. Probably be a good thing - I know lots of people found those seats uncomfortable..
Wow. They are probably installing new narrower seats in tighter rows to increase seating capacity. Sightlines and comfort being unimportant, of course.
On a side note, if the Booth is under renovation, we lack one theater appropriate to Peter and the Starcatchers or You Can't Take It With You or a re-opening of Scottsboro Boys or ....
I love the layout of the Booth. I love the center aisle. I imagine they will take that out As for the seats though, they did feel like sitting on cement slabs.

I hope the Booth is getting a full face lift, like the Shubert, Music Box, Winter Garden, Longacre and Belasco Theaters have received. The Booth appears to be one of the victims of the mushroom soup beige and baby diaper brown color scheme pogroms that the Shuberts inflicted on many of their theatres in the 60s and 70s.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
