Can you think of an up-tempo Andrew Lloyd Webber song for a female? I have an audition, and they've requested that we have one lyrical and one up-tempo Lloyd Webber song. I have the lyrical one, can you think of a up-tempo one? Thanks
I've got forty more minutes of home economics
Then down with the text books
And up with the comics
I'd go with BUENOS AIRES - great range (bottom E/Eb to top F) and it allows for loads of great movement.
Also, GO GO GO JOSEPH; HAND ME THE WINE AND THE DICE (Aspects Of Love); RAINBOW HIGH (Evita); NEXT TIME YOU FALL IN LOVE (Starlight Express); TYRE TRACKS & BROKEN HEARTS (Whistle Down The Wind)
Odd that they specified ALW, must be for an ALW show. I'd go with Buenos Aires or Jacob and Sons. Both will show off your range and give you some flexibility. Break a leg!
I'd suggest "You Can Get Away With Anything" from the new show, Woman in White, but it wouldn't work for a couple of reasons. 1. The sheet music isn't available yet and 2. They probably wouldn't thank you for it if you tried it with a live rat
Sheet music for two ballads is available from Dress Circle if you wanted to do something they haven't heard a zillion times.
"Hand Me the Wine and the Dice "( from ASPECTS OF LOVE) would be a very good choice. You may also want to add "Oh What A Circus" from EVITA to the list of choices.
Er... would just like to point out that Oh What A Circus & You Can Get Away With Anything are MALE songs, not female. So it may be best to steer clear of those unless your casting panel has said it's ok.
Go with Buenos Aires, itll show off your range and it's got tons of spunk and personality
Rosencrantz: "Be happy - if you're not even HAPPY what's so good about surviving? We'll be all right. I suppose we just go on."
- from Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
The sheet music is available to The Beautiful Game...I haven't heard it, but I would say do the most obscure ALW song you can find, that way everyone else won't be singing the same thing. "Hand me the wine and the dice" from Aspects is an AWESOME song.
There's a ALW song called "take that look off your face" . For the life of me, I can't remember what show it's from (I'm thinking Song and Dance, but I could be wrong), but if you can find the music (I think I have it in "The Andrew Lloyd Webber Anthology" it's really upbeat and catchy. Otherwise, everyone else's Evita and Joseph suggestions were really good.
"No thoughts within her head, but thoughts of joy.....no dreams within her heart but dreams of love."
Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts from Whistle Down the Wind and English Girls from Song and Dance are actually the same song. Tire Tracks has a more driving beat, but English Girls has more humor. Personally, I'd go with Tire Tracks.
